Method for Forming an Electrical Connection to a Conductive Fibre Electrode and Electrode So Formed
A method for forming an electrical connection to a microscale electrically conductive fibre material electrode element, such as a carbon fibre electrode element of a Pb-acid battery, comprises pressure impregnating into the fibre material an electrically conductive lug material, such as molten Pb metal, to surround and/or penetrate fibres and form an electrical connection to the fibre material and provide a lug for external connection of the electrode element. Other methods of forming a lug for external connection are also disclosed.

Degradable Metal Matrix Composite
The present invention relates to the composition and production of an engineered degradable metal matrix composite that is useful in constructing temporary systems requiring wear resistance, high hardness, and/or high resistance to deformation in water-bearing applications such as, but not limited to, oil and gas completion operations.
Electronic Device Housing Utilizing A Metal Matrix Composite
A housing used for electronic devices includes a structural frame element formed of a metal matrix composite (MMC) for providing improved stiffness over other materials currently in use. The MMC is a metal matrix (formed of a material such as aluminum), with a reinforcing material (such as a glass fiber or ceramic) dispersed within the metal matrix. The composition of the reinforcing material, as well as the ratio of reinforcing material to metal, define the stiffness (resistance to bending) and/or strength (resistance to breaking) achieved, and various compositions may be used for different housings, depending on the use of the electronic device. The element may be configured as a structural frame member, or may be embedded within another material forming the structural frame element. In another embodiment, the MMC may be used to form various components of the complete housing, including the enclosure itself.

Composite body and method for producing same
A composite production method includes impregnating a plate-shaped porous inorganic structure and a fibrous inorganic material with a metal while the fibrous inorganic material is arranged to be adjacent to the porous inorganic structure. In the composite structure, first and second phases are adjacent to each other by using a porous inorganic structure having a porous silicon carbide ceramic sintered body and the fibrous inorganic material, the first phase being a phase in which the porous silicon carbide ceramic sintered body is impregnated with the metal, the second phase being a phase in which the fibrous inorganic material is impregnated with the metal, a percentage of the porous silicon carbide ceramic sintered body in the first phase is 50 to 80 volume percent, and a percentage of the fibrous inorganic material in the second phase is 3 to 20 volume percent. A composite is produced by the method.
