METHOD FOR PRODUCING A THERMAL BARRIER SYSTEM ON A METAL SUBSTRATE OF A TURBO ENGINE PART
Method for producing a thermal barrier system on a metal substrate (1) of a turbo engine part, such as a high-pressure turbine blade, the thermal barrier system comprising at least one columnar ceramic layer (31, . . . , 3i, . . . , 3n), characterised in that the method comprises a step of compressing at least one of said at least one columnar ceramic layer (31, . . . 3i, . . . , 3n).
Piston ring and method for manufacturing a piston ring
A piston ring that is pre-treated by grit blasting to a defined roughness, followed by PVD coating with a metal nitride to a thickness of at least 10 m, leaving peaks and valleys in the coated piston ring. The coated piston ring is then lapped to remove the peaks without penetrating the coating, so that valleys and plateaus remain in the coated surface. The resulting piston ring exhibits superior coating retention due to the increased surface area created by the grit blasting, and yet also superior performance, as the cavities remaining increase the porosity of the coating and thus enhance the lubrication of the ring.
Patterned transfer articles
A transfer article with a thickness of less than 3 micrometers includes a first acrylate layer that is releasable from a metal or doped semiconductor release layer at a release value of from 2 to 50 grams/inch. The article includes a functional layer overlaying the first acrylate layer. The functional layer includes at least one microfractured inorganic layer about 3 nanometers to about 200 nanometers thick, which has a plurality of toolmarks interspersed with cracks.
STRUCTURE, ELECTRONIC APPARATUS, DECORATIVE FILM, AND STRUCTURE PRODUCTION METHOD
A structure according to an embodiment of the present technology includes a decorative film and a casing portion. The decorative film includes a metal layer that includes a first area in which an addition concentration of a predetermined element is relatively high, a second area in which the addition concentration is relatively lower than that of the first area, and minute cracks that are formed using the first area as a reference. The casing portion includes a to-be-decorated area to which the decorative film is to be bonded.
VALVE FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINES
A valve for an internal-combustion engine may include a body. The body may include a titanium alloy. At least one region of the body may include a nitrided layer. The nitrided layer may include at least one of titanium nitrides and aluminium-titanium nitrides.
COATED PISTON RING HAVING A PROTECTIVE LAYER
A piston ring is provided with is furnished with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer as a functional/wear protection layer, wherein the DLC layer is covered with a protective layer, the material of which differs from that of the DLC layer, and the material of which has higher thermal resistance that the material of the DLC layer. In addition, a method is provided for producing a piston ring with a DLC wear protection layer, in whose surface the protective layer is present in the form of deposits in depressions created by the surface roughness.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ELECTROCHEMICAL COMPONENT COMPRISING A LITHIUM METAL ANODE AND AN ION-CONDUCTIVE INORGANIC MATERIAL LAYER
A method for manufacturing a component of an electrochemical energy storage device utilizes lithium such that a coating method based on pulsed laser ablation is utilized in the production of an ion-conducting inorganic material layer on at least one surface of a lithium metal anode. At least one material layer is processed by thermal, mechanical, or thermomechanical treatment or by combination of any of these treatments after pulsed laser deposition. A roll-to-roll method can be used in the deposition, in which the substrate to be coated is directed from one roll to the second roll, and the deposition takes place in the area between the rolls. Moving and/or turning mirrors can be used to direct laser pulses as a beam line array to the surface of the target material.
FILMS INCLUDING A WATER-SOLUBLE LAYER AND A VAPOR-DEPOSITED INORGANIC COATING
Films including a water-soluble layer and a vapor-deposited inorganic coating are disclosed. The films exhibit enhanced barrier properties.
Scanning optical apparatus and method for manufacturing reflection member
A scanning optical apparatus includes: a deflection unit configured to deflect a light flux from a light source in a main scanning direction; an incident optical system configured to introduce the light flux from the light source to the deflection unit; a condensing optical system configured to condense the light flux from the deflection unit onto a scanned surface; and a reflection member arranged in a light path of the light flux deflected in the main scanning direction by the deflection unit and configured to reflect a part of the deflected light flux. The reflection member has a reflection surface configured to reflect the deflected light flux, a first end surface formed in the main scanning direction, and a second end surface formed in a sub-scanning direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction, and the second end surface has a higher degree of corrosion resistance than the first end surface.
