[Solution] A barrier laminate according to the present invention includes a multilayer substrate and an evaporated film, wherein the multilayer substrate includes at least a polypropylene resin layer and a surface coating layer, the polypropylene resin layer is subjected to a stretching process, the surface coating layer contains a resin material with a polar group, and the evaporated film is composed of an inorganic oxide.

A method of forming a ceramic matrix composite component includes forming a fiber preform, the fiber preform including a plurality of ceramic fiber plies, a non-reduced fiber region having an areal weight, and a reduced fiber region characterized by a reduced areal weight less than the areal weight of the non-reduced fiber region by at least 5 percent. The method further includes selectively applying ceramic particles to the reduced fiber region in such manner as to avoid applying the ceramic particles to the non-reduced fiber region, and subsequently densifying the preform.

Methods for enhancing selectivity in SAM-based selective deposition

Methods of improved selectively for SAM-based selective depositions are described. Some of the methods include forming a SAM on a second surface and a carbonized layer on the first surface. The substrate is exposed to an oxygenating agent to remove the carbonized layer from the first surface, and a film is deposited on the first surface over the protected second surface. Some of the methods include overdosing a SAM molecule to form a SAM layer and SAM agglomerates, depositing a film, removing the agglomerates, reforming the SAM layer and redepositing the film.
