HYDROPHOBIC AND ICEPHOBIC COATING
Embodiments described herein relate to layered structures having a top surface which is hydrophobic for reducing the wetting of water or ice on the layered structure without requiring reapplication. In one or more embodiments, a layered structure is provided and includes a coating containing silicon, oxygen, and carbon disposed over a substrate and an interface disposed between the substrate and the coating. The substrate is at least partially transparent to visible light, a concentration of carbon in the coating is greater at a top surface of the coating than the interface, and the top surface of the coating is disposed on the opposite side of the coating than the interface.
ATOMIC LAYER DEPOSITION DERIVED PROTECTIVE COATINGS FOR CALCIUM FLUORIDE OPTICAL COMPONENTS
A coated optical component includes an optical component and a conformal coating. The optical component is crystalline calcium fluoride and the conformal coating is an atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating in contact with a surface of the optical component. The ALD coating includes a metal fluoride ALD coating having a metal different from calcium. The ALD coating can include other metal oxide or metalloid oxide ALD coating layers. The method for making the coated optical component includes depositing an atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating on a surface of the optical component, where the ALD coating can be a metalloid oxide, a metal oxide, a metal fluoride having a metal that is different from calcium, or combinations of these. Sulfur hexafluoride is used as a fluorine source in the ALD process.
Non-polymeric tacrolimus drug-eluting stent and manufacturing method therefor
A tacrolimus drug-eluting stent manufacturing method according to the present invention enables a tacrolimus drug to be strongly and stably bound onto a stent, while also not necessarily involving a separate step of introducing a surface-binding functional group for the binding of a drug onto a stent and a step of introducing, into the drug, a functional group capable of binding to the surface-binding functional group, and a tacrolimus drug-eluting stent manufactured by the manufacturing method has a greater total drug elution amount and has a more excellent delayed drug-elution property.
Air data probe corrosion protection
A method can include vapor depositing a corrosion resistant coating to internal and external surfaces of a metallic air data probe. For example, vapor depositing can include using atomic layer deposition (ALD). The method can include placing the metallic air data probe in a vacuum chamber and evacuating the vacuum chamber before using vapor deposition. The corrosion resistant coating can be or include a ceramic coating. In certain embodiments, vapor depositing can include applying a first precursor, then applying a second precursor to the first precursor to form the ceramic coating.
Alternating multi-source vapor transport deposition
Disclosed are vapor transport deposition systems and methods for alternating sequential vapor transport deposition of multi-component perovskite thin-films. The systems include multiple vaporizing sources that are mechanically or digitally controlled for high throughput deposition. Alternating sequential deposition provides faster sequential deposition, and allows for reduced material degradation due to different vapor temperatures.

Atomic layer deposition on optical structures
Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to processing an optical workpiece containing grating structures on a substrate by deposition processes, such as atomic layer deposition (ALD). In one or more embodiments, a method for processing an optical workpiece includes positioning a substrate containing a first layer within a processing chamber, where the first layer contains grating structures separated by trenches formed in the first layer, and each of the grating structures has an initial critical dimension, and depositing a second layer on at least the sidewalls of the grating structures by ALD to produce corrected grating structures separated by the trenches, where each of the corrected grating structures has a corrected critical dimension greater than the initial critical dimension.
METHOD FOR GROWTH OF ATOMIC LAYER RIBBONS AND NANORIBBONS OF TRANSITION METAL DICHALCOGENIDES
A method of making an atomic layer nanoribbon that includes forming a double atomic layer ribbon having a first monolayer and a second monolayer on a surface of the first monolayer, wherein the first monolayer and the second monolayer each contains a transition metal dichalcogenide material, oxidizing at least a portion of the first monolayer to provide an oxidized portion, and removing the oxidized portion to provide an atomic layer nanoribbon of the transition metal dichalcogenide material. Also provided are double atomic layer ribbons, double atomic layer nanoribbons, and single atomic layer nanoribbons prepared according to the method.
Metalorganic chemical vapor deposition system and method
A metal organic chemical vapor deposition system includes a reaction chamber, a first heater arranged on a first side of the reaction chamber, and a second heater arranged on a second side of the reaction chamber. A controller is configured to selectively control an amount of heat applied by the second heater to the reaction chamber depending on a type of vapor deposition being performed in the reaction chamber.
