Diamond Coating
A method for coating a metal based component surface wherein said metal based component has an inner and/or outer surface portion that is to be coated, and which surface portion comprises a carbide forming composition. A cavity having one or more cavity walls, wherein said at least one inner and/or outer surface portion forms at least a portion of said one or more cavity walls is provided, and a portion of the cavity is filled with diamond powder. Thereafter gas is removed from the interface between said diamond powder and said at least one inner and/or outer surface portion, and the cavity is subjected to a hot pressing process for a predetermined time at a predetermined pressure and a predetermined temperature such that said diamond powder diffusion bonds to said at least one one inner and/or outer surface portion. Finally at least a part of said diamond powder is removed from said at least one cavity.
Process for producing a thermal barrier in a multilayer system for protecting a metal part and part equipped with such a protective system
The object of the present invention is to produce a metal part equipped with a protection system, particularly for turbine blades for aircraft engines, having a thermal barrier that is improved in terms of thermal properties, adhesion to the part and resistance to oxidation/corrosion. In order to achieve this, the method according to the invention produces in a single step, from specific ceramics, coating layers using SPS technology. According to one embodiment, a metal part is produced according to an SPS flash sintering method and comprises a superalloy substrate (22), a metal sub-layer (21), a TGO oxide layer (25) and the thermal barrier (23) formed by said method from at least two chemically and thermally compatible ceramic layers (2a, 2b). A first ceramic (2a), referred to as the inner ceramic, is designed to have a substantially higher expansion coefficient. The outer ceramic (2b) is designed to have at least lower thermal conductivity, and a sintering temperature and/or maximum operating temperature that is substantially higher. The thermal barrier (23) has a composition and porosity gradient (3) from the metal sub-layer (21) to the outer ceramic (2b).
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FABRICATING AN ELECTRICAL CONDUCTOR ON A SUBSTRATE
A method for fabricating an electrical conductor on a substrate by cold spraying includes propelling a solid powder composition that includes copper and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite using a gas propellant, and directing the solid powder composition towards the substrate at a velocity sufficient to cause the solid powder composition to undergo plastic deformation and to adhere to the substrate to deposit the electrical conductor thereon.
Chromate-Free Ceramic Coating Compositions For Hot Corrosion Protection of Superalloy Substrates
Hexavalent chromium-free slurry formulations which are suitable in the production of ceramic overlay coating systems are described. The formulations provide superior hot corrosion and heat oxidation protection for superalloy substrates. A basecoat slurry and topcoat slurry are provided. The basecoat slurry includes an aluminum phosphate based aqueous solution having a molar ratio of Al:PO.sub.4 higher than about 1:3 with the incorporation of metal oxide particles. The topcoat slurry includes an aluminum phosphate based aqueous solution having a molar ratio of Al:PO.sub.4 higher than about 1:3. Both of the basecoat slurry and the topcoat slurry are hexavalent chromium-free.
METHOD OF FILLING COOLING HOLES IN AN AIRFOIL COMPONENT
In an aspect, a method of filling a plurality of cooling holes in an airfoil component, the method comprises injecting a curable composition into a fill channel such that the curable composition flows through the fill channel to the plurality of cooling holes; forming a plurality of beads of the curable composition on a surface of the component over the plurality of cooling holes; directing a radiation to the respective beads in directions parallel to the respective central axes of the cooling holes associated with the respective beads to cure curable composition of the respective beads; and heating the component to cure the curable composition located in the fill channel.
COATING MATERIAL COMPRISING CALCINED PRODUCT OF SOFT POROUS ANCIENT MARINE HUMUS
An object of the present invention is to provide a functional material which achieves overall improvement in safety and usefulness of an oil. According to the present invention, the use of a calcined product of soft porous ancient marine humus makes it possible to improve a quality of various oils.
PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT OF THERMAL BARRIER COATING INTEGRITY BY LITHOGRAPHY
A method for protecting a coating on a surface of a component is provided. The method includes a coating step for coating at least a portion of the component with a ceramic slurry. A projecting step is used for projecting a pattern of light onto the component with a lithographic process to expose and solidify a ceramic layer. A removing step is used for removing unexposed portions of the ceramic slurry from the component. A heating step heats the component to sinter the ceramic layer. The ceramic layer comprises multiple ridges with each of the ridges having a curvilinear pattern.
