Castings and manufacture methods
A method includes casting a metallic material (56) in a mold (20) containing a core, the core having a substrate (40, 44) coated with a coating (42). A removing of the metallic material from the mold and decoring leaves a casting having a layer formed by the coating. The coating has a ceramic having a porosity in a zone (50) near the substrate less than a porosity in a zone (52) away from the substrate.
Diamond-like coating for piston ring surfaces, piston ring and processes for preparing the same
The present invention relates to a diamond-like coating for piston ring surfaces, comprising, an underlayer, a gradient layer and an AM layer, wherein the AM layer is a diamond-like coating doped with doping elements. The doping elements are one or a combination of at least two selected from the group consisting of Cr, Si and Ti, and the content thereof shows a cyclical change in a form of a sine wave fluctuation along with the thickness change of the AM layer. As compared with the conventional single-layer structure or gradient layer structure, the AM layer of such diamond-like coating has a multi-cycle transition structure since the content of the doping elements in the AM layer of such diamond-like coating shows a cyclical change in a sine wave fluctuation form. On the basis of having high wear-resistant and low friction coefficient, it is beneficial to decrease the internal stress of the coating, increase the tenacity of the coating, ensure the increase of the thickness of diamond-like coating, and improve the durability of piston ring of diamond-like coating at the same time.
LOW FRICTION WEAR FILM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A low friction wear film includes a chromium layer provided on a surface of a metal substrate, a tungsten carbide layer provided on a surface of the chromium layer, and a diamond-like carbon layer as a top layer provided on a surface of the tungsten carbide layer. The tungsten carbide layer includes a chromium-tungsten carbide gradient layer and a tungsten carbide uniform layer. In the tungsten carbide layer, a tungsten-concentrated layer in which a tungsten simple substance is present is not provided at a boundary between the chromium-tungsten carbide gradient layer and the tungsten carbide uniform layer.
Antiwear-coated metal component, in particular for a ball valve, and method for applying a multi-layer antiwear coating in order to produce a component of this type
The invention relates to an antiwear-coated metal component (1), in particular for a ball valve (6), the tribosurface of which component is at least partially provided with a multi-layer antiwear coating (2). The antiwear coating (2) has at least a metal adhesion layer (3a), an adhesion-promoting layer (3b) and at least one first cover layer (3c). The adhesion-promoting layer (3b) comprises a carbide-forming metal or a boride-forming metal. The at least first cover layer (3c) comprises a hydrogen-free tetrahedral carbon. The invention further relates to a method for applying an antiwear coating (2) to a metal substrate (9) in order to produce an antiwear-coated metal component (1) of this type. The invention further relates to a ball valve, comprising an antiwear-coated metal component (1) of this type and an antiwear coating (2).
COATING SYSTEM HAVING SYNTHETIC OXIDE LAYERS
A coating system for a turbine engine component is disclosed. The coating system includes a substrate, an optional bond coat, a synthetic oxide layer and a top coat. The synthetic oxide layer is formed by atomic layer deposition and includes two or more oxides.
PVD barrier coating for superalloy substrates
A layered stack that can be used as an oxidation and chemical barrier with superalloy substrates, including Ni, Ni—Co, Co, and Ni-aluminide based substrates, and methods of preparing the layered stack. The layer system can be applied to a substrate in a single physical vapor deposition process with no interruption of vacuum conditions.
Thermal barrier coating
A coated substrate has a substrate and a coating system having one or more ceramic layers. At least a first layer of one of the one or more ceramic layers is a columnar layer having as-deposited columns and intercolumn gaps. The intercolumn gaps have a mean width at least one of: at least 4.0 micrometers; and at least 1.5% of a thickness of said first layer.
PVD bond coat
A superalloy workpiece includes a superalloy substrate and an interface layer (IF-1) of essentially the same superalloy composition directly on a surface of the superalloy substrate. A transition layer (TL) of essentially the same superalloy and superalloy oxides or a different metal composition and different metal oxides is on the interface layer (IF-1). The oxygen content of the transition layer increases from the interface layer (IF-1) towards a barrier layer (IF-2) of super alloy oxides or of different metal oxides.
Housing and device
A housing is a housing formed of austenitized ferritic stainless steel including a base formed of a ferrite phase and a surfacing layer formed of an austenitized phase in which the ferrite phase is austenitized, the housing including a first surface exposed to an external space of the housing, and a second surface adjacent to the first surface with a corner portion interposed therebetween, and exposed to the external space, wherein an angle of an internal angle formed by the first surface and the second surface at the corner portion is greater than 0°, and less than 180°, and a surfacing layer at the corner portion is thicker in thickness than a surfacing layer in the first surface and a surfacing layer in the second surface.
APPARATUS FOR VISCOUS HYDROCARBON TRANSPORTATION
