Corrosion inhibition

A corrosion inhibiting composition which is a liquid carrier in which is dissolved or dispersed a corrosion inhibitor compound comprising at least one moiety (A) which is an aliphatic, aromatic or mixed aliphatic/aromatic structure containing one or more hetero atoms which are nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus or sulphur, and also at least one moiety (B) which contains one or more polymerisable groups containing double or triple bonded carbon, with the moieties (A) and (B) directly or indirectly covalently connected together.

CORROSION INHIBITING FORMULATIONS AND USES THEREOF

Corrosion inhibiting formulations including a substituted benzimidazole, a mercaptocarboxylic acid, a 2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-dione, a sulfhydryl alcohol, a surfactant, and a solvent. Methods for preventing, inhibiting, or reducing metal (e.g. carbon steel) corrosion utilizing these formulations are described. The formulations are effective against corrosion of metallic substrates in sweet (i.e. CO.sub.2), sour (i.e. H.sub.2S), and/or high salinity environments commonly found in petroleum industry.

CORROSION CONTROL FOR SUPERCRITICAL CARBON DIOXIDE FLUIDS

A method of preventing or mitigating corrosion on a metallic surface exposed to a supercritical fluid is disclosed. The method includes adding a corrosion inhibitor composition to a supercritical fluid comprising a supercritical carbon dioxide; and contacting the supercritical fluid with a metallic surface, wherein the corrosion inhibitor composition comprises a corrosion inhibitor that has a solubility of greater than 5,000 ppm in the supercritical fluid at 48.9 C. and 2,200 psi.
