Method and system for autonomous measurement of transmission line EMF for pipeline cathodic protection systems
20200232102 · 2020-07-23 ·

An active cathodic analysis protection system employs local monitors that detect the electromagnetic fields near the transmission line. This yields a set of electromagnetic field (EMF) point readings along the transmission line. From this information a three dimensional (3D) EMF field estimation is determined. EMF field estimation is used in combination with a system geometry model, which includes the transmission line geometry, the geometry of the monitors with respect to the transmission line, and the pipeline geometry.

Corrosion resistant fastener
10714239 · 2020-07-14 ·

An object of this invention is to prevent the collapse of structures such as boat lifts, where the collapse is caused by corrosion of metal fasteners inside conductive material such as moist wood in the presence of ground voltage differences, and where the corrosion is prevented by blocking current from flowing through the fasteners.

The invention to which this application relates is to a propeller of the type, which is typically, although not necessary exclusively, for use in relation to vessels for use in water and, most typically, propellers of a type which can be moved between an in-use position in which the blades of the propeller extend outwardly to provide a propulsion force when rotated and, a storage position in which the desire is to minimise the effect of the blades as the vessel moves through the water and in which the blades are held substantially in line with the body of the propeller. The location means which allow the blades to be connected to the body are located within the body and thereby minimise the risk of corrosion and thereby increase the life of the propeller whilst also providing a secure fitment of the blades to the body and allowing ease of movement of the blades between in-use and storage positions.

Double coupon reference cell and methods of making same
10648088 · 2020-05-12 · ·

A cathodic protection device enclosing a reference cell and a conductive media and having two coupon assemblies mounted, facing opposing direction, on an exterior surface thereof is disclosed. The coupon assemblies each have a disc-shaped coupon seated in a jacket and are electrically coupled to a wire. The jacket is generally patch-sized and defines a pocket in a first surface and a groove in a second, opposing surface thereof. The disc-shaped coupon is seated in the pocket and the wire is seated in the groove with the electrical junction therebetween aligned with an aperture connecting the pocket to the groove. A sealing material is used to form a watertight seal between the disc-shaped coupon and the pocket and fills the groove. The device includes a hydrophilic porous member having a first surface in communication with the conductive media and a second surface in communication with an external environment.
