A probe for measuring a cathodic protection condition of a buried steel structure includes: a body; a reference electrode accommodated in an interior of the body; and a volume of backfill accommodated in the interior of the body and at least partially surrounding the reference electrode. The backfill includes at least one of: zinc sulfate (ZnSO.sub.4) and lithium acetate.
Cathodic protection of metal substrates
The present invention generally provides a system for metal corrosion protection, including a metallic object to be protected, connectable to an electron source as cathode, an electrically isolating coating disposed on at least a portion of the metallic object, an electrically conductive blanket anode applied on at least a portion of the electrically isolating coating; an electrode electrically connected to the blanket anode and connectable to the electron source. The present invention further proposes a kit for providing corrosion protection to a substrate and method thereof.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND METHODS TO ASSESS CORROSION PREVENTION
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide devices, systems and methods for monitoring anti-corrosion efforts including the efficacy of cathodic protection systems. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide devices, systems and methods for remote cell cathodic protection (CP) survey data acquisition to sense, display, and record CP survey voltage potential measurements as well as global positioning system and navigation data. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide improvements in terms reduced noise and improved signal quality through the use of copper conductors that connect electrochemical reference cells (i.e., electrodes) to measuring apparatus. Further, improved signal detection is provided by embodiments including reference electrodes that may be placed further (e.g., up to 1000 feet) from a surface vessel than are found in conventional system. Disclosed embodiments also provide highly precise spatial mapping of CP potentials (e.g., to within 0.5 mm spatial resolution in 1000 feet of depth).
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ANALYZING CATHODIC PROTECTION CURRENT SHIELDING OF A COATING
A system, apparatus, and method for analyzing cathodic protection (CP) current shielding of a coating are provided. The system includes: a test cell configured to have a coating film disposed therein and to be filled with electrically conductive solution surrounding the coating film; an electrical resistance (ER) probe mounted through a port of the test cell; and a potentiostat configured to: apply potential to the test cell to thereby polarize a sensing element of the ER probe such that the ER probe is configured to measure data indicative of a corrosion rate of the sensing element when the coating film is disposed within the test cell and while a CP current flows through the sensing element; and measure a current density through the sensing element in order to indicate an extent of CP current shielding of the coating film.
SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING ANODIC CORROSION PROTECTION FOR GALVANIZED IRRIGATION PIPES
The present invention provides a sacrificial anodic plug for insertion within an irrigation span to provide anodic corrosion protection. According to a preferred embodiment, the anodic plug of the present invention includes a protective cap connected to a securing bushing, and an anodic coupler which extends into the interior of the irrigation span. Preferably, the securing bushing includes non-conductive threads for mating with the threads of a sprinkler outlet and for electrically isolating the anodic coupler from the protective cap. According to further preferred embodiments, the anodic coupler is formed of magnesium and extends down away from the protective cap and terminates in an anodic base. According to a further preferred embodiment, the protective cap may include a wear indicator indicating the amount of anodic material remaining in the central anodic coupler and anodic base.

The flexible pipe body comprises a tensile armour layer and a supporting layer radially outside, or radially inside, and in an abutting relationship with the tensile armour layer. The supporting layer comprises a helically wound constraining tape element and a helically wound electrically conductive tape element.
Visual electrolytic corrosion indication and prevention apparatus
An apparatus may mount an in-stream, continuous contact, visible, sacrificial anode in a fluid passage for the electrolytic corrosion protection. The apparatus may function to protect heat exchangers and/or other metallically connected system components that share contact with electrolytically active fluids. The apparatus may consist of an in-line anode cartridge including a collar body and a viewing port. The apparatus may include a site glass and compression fittings which seals the device causing corrosive fluids to flow past a sacrificial anode. The apparatus may include a visual indicator and an elastically compressed member (e.g., spring) which facilitate continuous metallic/electrical contact and inspection of the anode through the viewing port without system shut down or disassembly. The elastically compressed member and gauge assembly fills the view-ports with a bright indicator as the anode dissolves and the elastically compressed member expands. The apparatus improves inspection, replacement and effectiveness of sacrificial anodes in electrolytically corrosive environments.
