Zeolite components for use in solid chemical oxygen generators
The present invention relates to a composition for generating oxygen, comprising at least one oxygen source selected from chlorates and perchlorates, to an oxygen generator comprising such a composition, and a method for generating oxygen by decomposing such a composition. The present invention further relates to the use of zeolite compounds as multifunctional components in the oxygen generating compositions.
MODULAR PORTABLE OXYGEN GENERATOR
The various embodiments of the present invention disclose a modular portable oxygen generator including a reactor container having two vertical compartments, where one of the compartments houses a cartridge while another houses oxygen storage tank. The arrangement is provided with a mechanism to guide the oxygen generated in the cartridge after triggering to a defined outlet. The modular portable oxygen generator is light weight, easy to carry and easy to use with minimal maintenance as compared to heavy oxygen cylinders and generator.
Oxygen generators
An oxygen generator comprising a housing and a chemical core within the housing, the chemical core being capable on ignition of producing oxygen by chemical reaction. An ignition apparatus within the housing is for igniting the chemical core, and a collection apparatus within the housing collects oxygen produced by the chemical core. The ignition apparatus comprises an ignition handle accessible from outside the housing, the ignition handle being arranged to be rotatable by hand, and an ignition block disposed within the housing, the ignition block being arranged, when rotated in contact with the chemical core, to ignite the chemical core. A thermal isolator between the ignition handle and the ignition block is arranged to transmit rotational force from the ignition handle to the ignition block.
The collection apparatus comprises a cooling chamber having an inlet through which oxygen produced by the chemical core enters into the cooling chamber, and an outlet through which oxygen in the cooling chamber leaves the cooling chamber. The interior of the cooling chamber has at least one wall arranged in the path of oxygen flowing from the inlet to the outlet.
OXYGEN GENERATORS
A chemical core for an oxygen generator. The chemical core is capable on ignition of producing oxygen by chemical reaction. A first end of the chemical core has a smaller cross-sectional area than a second end of the chemical core such that the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the second end to the cross-sectional area of the second end is. 20:1 or more.
ORTHO-PHOSPHATE COMPONENTS FOR USE IN SOLID CHEMICAL OXYGEN GENERATORS
The present invention relates to a composition for generating oxygen, comprising at least one oxygen source selected from chlorates and perchlorates, to an oxygen generator comprising such a composition, and a method for generating oxygen by decomposing such a composition. The present invention further relates to the use of transition metal ortho-phosphate compounds ortho-vanadate compounds and mixed ortho-phosphate-vanadate compounds as multifunctional components in the oxygen generating compositions.
Chemical oxygen generator with compact ignition system for possible use in an aircraft
A compact ignition system for chemical oxygen generators for possible use in an aircraft. The chemical oxygen generator is configured such that a majority of the ignition system can be accommodated within an interior of the generator body. In some embodiments, the ignition system is positioned within a recess of an upper surface of the core of the generator. Housing a majority of the ignition system within the generator allows the overall oxygen-generating capacity of the generator to be increased without requiring a corresponding increase in the overall length of the generator.
