This present invention provides a microporous carbon nanospheres, method for synthesizing and activating thereof, the method comprising: adding and mixing well deionized water, absolute ethanol, triblock copolymer, ammonia solution, resorcinol and formaldehyde solution; separating solid and liquid of the mixture solution, then drying the separated solid substrate to have a dried solid substrate; sintering the dried solid substrate surrounding by nitrogen twice and collecting microporous carbon nanospheres after cooling down. Further sintering to activate these microporous carbon nanospheres surrounding by carbon dioxide, and collecting activated microporous carbon nanospheres after cooling down. Microporous carbon nanospheres and activated microporous carbon nanospheres synthesized by this present invention have spherical structure, small size and high the specific surface area, and the process is simplified, cost-effective and environment-friendly.

Immobilized selenium in a porous carbon with the presence of oxygen, a method of making, and uses of immobilized selenium in a rechargeable battery

In a method of preparing an immobilized selenium system or body, a selenium-carbon-oxygen mixture is formed. The mixture is then heated to a temperature above the melting temperature of selenium and the heated mixture is then cooled to ambient or room temperature, thereby forming the immobilized selenium system or body.

Magnetic composite containing polyethylenimine functionalized actived carbon and methods thereof

A polymer/activated carbon composite made up of a branched polyethylenimine and magnetic cores involving Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 disposed activated carbon. The magnetic cores have activated carbonyl groups on the surface. A process for removing organic dyes, such as methyl red, as well as heavy metal ions from a polluted aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater utilizing the composite is introduced. A method of synthesizing the polymer/activated carbon composites is also specified.

LARGE SCALE SYNTHESIS OF RESORCINOL-FORMALDEHYDE AEROGEL

A product includes an aerogel having a single bulk structure, the single bulk structure having at least one dimension greater than 10 millimeters. The single bulk structure includes a plurality of pores, where each pore has a largest diameter defined as a greatest distance between pore walls of the respective pore. In addition, an average of the largest diameters of a majority of the pores is within a specified range, and the plurality of pores are distributed substantially homogenously throughout the single bulk structure.

A method of using carbon dioxide and low pH effluent from prior processing batches for synthesizing-carbon particles or hydrochar from carbohydrate/water solution formulations and conversion of aqueous feedstock containing carbohydrate waste. The hydrochar is a precursor material containing biochar solids and an acidic effluent. The hydrochar can be separated into solids (biochar) and liquid where the solids can be used for preparing a variety of carbonaceous products such as activated carbon. The carbohydrate/water formulation is heated in a pressure vessel converting solid waste to hydrochar forming uniform stable carbon nuclei and converting the aqueous carbohydrates in solution to solid spherical carbon particles. Microwave-assisted or inductive heating can be used as a preprocessing step to increase formation of carbon nuclei to accelerate growth of the carbon particles.

METHOD OF RECYCLING CARBON TO A FEEDSTOCK GAS REACTOR

A method of using a feedstock gas reactor is described. A hydrocarbon, such as methane, is chemical decomposed in the feedstock gas reactor using heat of combustion generated from the combustion of a combustible gas. A mixed product stream is extracted from the feedstock gas reactor. The mixed product stream comprises hydrogen, carbon, and water. At least a portion of the one or more combustion product gases are vented from the combustion chamber. At least some of the carbon is activated using the vented one or more combustion product gases. At least some of the activated carbon is recycled to the feedstock gas reactor.
