Additionally, there is a closed heat exchange loop (21) between the regenerator (14) of the hydrogen gas producing reactor system (10) and the downstream end of the combustor (24) or the upstream end of the turbine (26). A method of its use is also contemplated.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WATER-BASED CHEMICAL-LOOPING HYDROGEN GENERATION
The present application provides a system and a method for water-based chemical-looping hydrogen generation. The method for water-based chemical-looping hydrogen generation comprises a water-based reduction process of oxygen carrier and a water-based oxidation process of oxygen carrier, wherein in the water-based reduction process of oxygen carrier, an oxygen carrier is reduced with a hydrocarbon fuel in the presence of a steam to produce a hydrogen gas as well as a reduced oxygen carrier and a carbon dioxide; and in the water-based oxidation process of oxygen carrier, the reduced oxygen carrier is oxidized with the steam to produce the hydrogen gas, while the reduced oxygen carrier is oxidized to its original state, thereby forming a chemical-looping. The present application can reduce the energy consumption while improving the efficiency of the hydrogen generation, enabling a zero energy consumption separation of carbon dioxide in the hydrogen generation process.
Method for recovering hydrogen from biomass pyrolysis gas
A method for recovering hydrogen which is capable of efficiently recovering high concentration hydrogen gas by adsorbing and removing hydrocarbon gas such as carbon dioxide from biomass pyrolysis gas under a relatively low pressure, and also capable of storing the recovered high concentration hydrogen gas, preferably, in a cartridge type container that can be used as is as a hydrogen storing container for an apparatus equipped with a fuel cell. The method includes a first purifying stare of purifying biomass pyrolysis gas and a second purifying stage of purifying the obtained purified gas under a pressure equal to or less than the pressure in the first purifying stage to recover gas that contains hydrogen, and further includes a hydrogen storing stage of feeding the gas containing hydrogen recovered in the second purifying stage into the container filled with a hydrogen storage alloy and storing high purity hydrogen.

The present invention relates to processes for the preparation of biofuel from biomass by fast hydropyrolysis or fast pyrolysis, using hydrogen generated by sorption enhanced steam reforming. The present invention also relates to fixed bed tandem catalytic-upgrading processes, and reactors and hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) catalysts useful in those processes.
PROCESS
The present invention provides a process for the manufacture of a useful product from carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics, the process comprising the steps of: continuously providing the carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics to a gasification zone; gasifying the carbonaceous feedstock in the gasification zone to obtain raw synthesis gas; sequentially removing ammoniacal, sulphurous and carbon dioxide impurities from the raw synthesis gas to form desulphurised gas and recovering carbon dioxide in substantially pure form; converting at least a portion of the desulphurised synthesis gas to a useful product. Despite having selected a more energy intensive sub-process i.e. physical absorption for removal of acid gas impurities, the overall power requirement of the facility is lower on account of lower steam requirements and thereby leading to a decrease in the carbon intensity score for the facility.
