METHOD FOR REMOVING CYANOTOXIN FROM WATER USING A PLASMA DEVICE
20180099880 · 2018-04-12 ·

A method for treating water is provided. The method includes feeding gas through a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) jet device having an electrode and a ground electrode disposed in water comprising at least one organic toxin derived from a biological organism to generate a cavity in the water, and powering the electrode such that a plasma jet is generated in the cavity. The plasma jet interacts with the water to generate oxidizing agents that oxidize and decompose organic toxins in the water.

Chloroperoxidase-catalyzed degradation of pharmaceutical pollutants in wastewater

The present invention provides efficient, economical, and environmentally-friendly compositions and methods for removing pollutants from water sources. In particular embodiments, the present invention provides compositions and methods for catalyzing the degradation of pharmaceutical pollutants in wastewater using the enzyme chloroperoxidase (CPO). Another embodiment provides a method of degrading pollutants in wastewater and other water sources. In specific embodiments, the claimed composition and method can be used to degrade pharmaceutical pollutants selected from the group consisting of: acetaminophen, carbamazepine, sulfamethazine, diclofenac, and naproxen.

Slurry biocide

The invention provides methods and compositions for addressing the problem of microorganism infestations and especially biocorrosion in slurry transporting pipelines. The method comprises treating pipeline fluid (especially plug fluid) with an oxidizing biocide in an amount higher than the oxidant demand of the pipeline and a non-oxidizing biocide in an amount less than 30% of the minimum necessary to sterilize the microbiological organisms. This treatment makes use of the unique characteristics of a slurry pipeline to eliminate microorganisms without harming the pipeline as would be expected by using an oxidizing biocide.

Floating dispensers

A floating dispenser for floatingly delivering a dispersant or dispersants to a body of water with the floating dispenser floating in an upright condition when a dispersant is present in a dispenser cartridge of the floating dispenser with the dispenser self inverting 180 degrees in response to consumption of the dispersant in the dispenser cartridge to thereby provide a visual alert that one should replace the dispenser cartridge in the dispenser with a fresh dispenser cartridge.

Treatments of organic waste

The invention provides treatments of organic waste. The invention provides a method for treating organic waste (and in particular, animal waste such as waste from a cow) and uses of a composition that is capable of generating a reactive species in methods of reducing biological degradation of organic waste, in the treatment of organic waste. The invention also provides organic waste treated by the methods of the invention and uses of this treated organic waste. The invention also provides a method for improving the production of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and medium-chain carboxylic acids (MCCAs) during anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic waste.

Chemical monitoring devices and methods

Implementations of this disclosure are directed to systems, devices and methods for monitoring parameters associated with a body of liquid. In one embodiment, a device includes a container configured to be partially submerged in a liquid and includes sensors disposed within a submerged portion of the container to measure parameters associated with the liquid. An electronic component disposed within an unsubmerged portion of the container transmits information related to the parameters based upon which one or more actions related to treatment of the body of liquid are suggested.

Side-stream particle precipitator apparatus and sustem for condenser open loop cooling system
09850156 · 2017-12-26 ·

A side-stream particle precipitator system for the breakdown and removal of organic and inorganic suspended solids in water cooling systems using a plurality of ionizer treatment units utilizing electric and electro-magnetic fields and a mechanical vortex precipitating system with a static mixer for increasing retention time of the water complex in the precipitator to remove particulate materials contained in the water complex as suspended solids. The system also uses high voltage electrodes for charging the water complex to breakdown laminar flow at the conduit walls to mechanically dislodge any build-up of bio-materials or chemical compounds along the walls resulting in an increase in thermal conductivity.

WATER TREATMENT DISPENSING APPARATUS

A water treatment dispensing apparatus has a container for holding water from a water supply and a water disinfectant cartridge located within the container. A housing attached to the container and connected to the cartridge directs water from the cartridge to a remote location, such as a dental instrument. An air pressure device supplies water under pressure to the container to force water to flow through the cartridge and to the remote location.
