GEOTHERMAL WELL STIMULATION AND SILCA BASED DEPOSIT REMOVAL
In a geothermal plant, alternately injecting an acid composition and a caustic composition removes or inhibits scale build-up.
Customizable multi-stage water treatment system
A customizable multi-stage fluid treatment assembly typically includes a connector, a plurality of cartridges, and a cap. The plurality of cartridges have a treatment medium spaced within an interior volume of the individual cartridges, between the ends thereof. The ends of the plurality of cartridges are configured to receive a fluid, bring the fluid into operative contact with the treatment medium, and dispense the fluid from the opposing end of the cartridge. The connector is coupled with one end of the plurality of cartridges and has an inlet and an outlet for receiving and dispensing the fluid to and from an appliance. The cap is coupled with the other end of the plurality of cartridges, enclosing the fluid treatment assembly, which is configured to be received in a cavity of an appliance. The cartridges of the plurality of cartridges may be individually replaced with cartridges to meet customized needs.
WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Industrial and residential water treatment systems and devices are disclosed for use in preventing hard water buildup or in removing such buildup. The systems and devices include fixed and removable components for delivering water treatment composition. In addition, novel water treatment compositions and methods of treating water are disclosed.
Corrosion Inhibitors for Passivation of Galvanized Coatings and Carbon Steel
An additive comprising one or more C.sub.3-C.sub.12 hydroxycarboxylic acids and/or one or more C.sub.3-C.sub.12 hydroxycarboxylic acid salts may be added to an aqueous system having galvanized metallurgy or a carbon steel surface in an effective amount to passivate a galvanized coating on the metallurgy or to decrease white rust formation or other types of corrosion upon the galvanized metallurgy or carbon steel surface in an aqueous system. In a non-limiting embodiment, the C.sub.3-C.sub.12 hydroxycarboxylic acid or the C.sub.3-C.sub.12 hydroxycarboxylic acid salt additive may utilize the zinc in the galvanized coating to achieve passivation. The passivation may occur while the system is shut down or in service. The aqueous system may be or include a cooling tower, a cooling water system, and combinations thereof. The additive may be used with or in the absence of a phosphorous-containing compound.
Composition and method for water conditioning
A water conditioning composition includes water; at least one gluconate compound; at least one carbonate compound; a non-ionic preservative; and a phosphate buffer. For example, the composition can include 87-95 wt. % water; 0.5 to 1.5 wt. % gluconate compound; 3 to 8 wt. % carbonate compound; 0.5 to 1.5 wt. % non-ionic preservative; and 0.5 to 2.5 wt. % phosphate buffer.

The systems and devices include fixed and removable components for delivering water treatment composition. In addition, novel water treatment compositions and methods of treating water are disclosed.
RECOVERY METHOD AND RECOVERY DEVICE FOR DISCHARGED COOLING WATER
Water discharged from a circulating cooling water system is treated by a water recovery system including a clarification equipment and an RO membrane, and treated water is returned to the circulating cooling water system. A dispersant is added to the circulating cooling water system for dispersing scale components. The dispersant includes a polymer having a carboxyl group and having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 or less, and permeates through the clarification equipment. The polymer having a carboxyl group and having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 or less permeates through the clarification equipment, and performs as a scale dispersing agent for the RO membrane, preventing precipitation of scale. Since the polymer intrinsically has an anticorrosion effect, it becomes unnecessary to add a phosphoric acid compound to the cooling water system as an anticorrosion agent, or the required amount of the compound to be added can be reduced.
Rheology modifying agents for slurries
Rheology modifying agents and methods of modifying the rheology of a slurry are disclosed, in addition to methods for the prevention of fouling. The slurry can be a lime slurry or a magnesium oxide slurry. The rheology modifying agent can be a low molecular weight anionic polymer, a high molecular weight polymer, a mixture of a low molecular weight anionic polymer and a high molecular weight polymer, a mixture of a high molecular weight polymer and a chelating agent, and a mixture of a chelating agent, a high molecular weight polymer, and a low molecular weight anionic polymer.
CORROSION INHIBITING POLYMER COMPOSITIONS, MIXTURES, AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are polymer compositions useful for inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces in industrial process water recirculating systems. The polymer compositions include interpolymers of about 90 mol % to about 97 mol % of a first monomer, about 0.01 mol % to about 5 mol % of a second monomer that is chemically different from the first monomer, and about 0.01 mol % to about 5 mol % of a third monomer that is chemically different from the first and second monomers; and optionally a fourth monomer that is chemically different from the first, second, and third monomers. About 0.05 ppm to about 200 ppm by weight of the polymer composition is dispersed in an industrial process water source, optionally in the presence of a divalent or higher valency metal ion. The dispersed polymer compositions significantly reduce the corrosion rate of metal surfaces of industrial equipment, even after one or more cycles of concentration.
