MICROWAVE DRYING APPARATUS FOR THE MINIMIZATION OF DRINKING WATER PLANT RESIDUALS
A method and apparatus for treating residuals or waste streams from a plant, such as a drinking water treatment plant. The method includes the steps of obtaining plant residuals or waste streams from a water treatment plant and irradiating the plant residuals or waste streams using microwave radiation from a microwave source. The method also includes the step of drying the plant residuals or waste streams to a predetermined moisture, volume, or weight content reduction and disposing of the same.
PROCEDURE FOR PROVIDING AND IMPROVING PUMPABILITY OF HIGH TO VERY HIGH BIOSOLIDS CONTAINING DEWATERED SOLID SEWAGE SLUDGE
The invention provides a process for the drying and re-hydration of high solids Biosolids cake to be converted into a pumpable organic liquid fertilizer. This process may be carried out at ambient pressure without aggressive shearing of the mixture of added process water and the high solids Biosolids cake. The drying step removes the bound water, while the re-hydration step includes mixing which breaks down the particulate matter to produce a fairly homogeneous suspension.
Arrangement and method for separating out and removing screenings from wastewater
An apparatus for separating out and removing screenings from wastewater includes a screening device having a screen surface through which the wastewater flows during operation of the screening device and screenings carried along in the wastewater are at least intermittently retained. The apparatus includes a sensor and a controller. The sensor monitors the screenings in the area upstream from the screen surface and/or in the area of the screen surface. The controller outputs a message when the screenings have one or several properties which have been defined and have been recognized by the sensor. In addition, a method for operating the apparatus and a system including the apparatus are provided.
WASTE DISPOSER
A waste disposer comprising a primary dehydrating chamber, a grinding device, a secondary dehydrating chamber, and a storage chamber. The primary dehydrating chamber is adapted to allow waste to be heated therein to partly dehydrate the waste. The primary dehydrating chamber has: a first waste inlet for receiving the waste, a first vapor outlet for exhausting vapor from the waste, a drainage outlet for draining free liquid from the waste, and a first waste outlet for outputting the partly dehydrated waste. The grinding device is adapted to receive the waste from the first waste outlet and grind the waste to reduce the size thereof. The secondary dehydrating chamber is adapted to allow the ground waste to be heated therein to further dehydrate the waste. The secondary dehydrating chamber has a second waste inlet for receiving the ground waste, a second vapor outlet for exhausting vapor from the waste, and a second waste outlet for outputting the further dehydrated waste. The storage chamber is adapted to receive the waste from the second waste outlet and store the waste in the storage chamber.
Method and arrangement for dewatering sludge
A method and an arrangement for processing sludge into sludge residue having a targeted dry solid concentration is provided. The method comprises a step of distributing (110) provided sludge for continuous transport in a specific form factor; cooling (120) the distributed sludge into a frozen state using a refrigerating medium; thawing (140) the frozen sludge using a first heating medium; drying (150) the thawed sludge to a targeted dry solid concentration, wherein at least one aspect of the method is controlled by a processing parameter, the method further comprising the step of monitoring (160) at least one processing parameter, and adjusting (170) at least one processing parameter with respect to a corresponding reference value based on said at least one sludge characteristic or user input to improve sludge processing.
Method and apparatus for dewatering biological solid material employing both microwave irradiation and solvent extraction
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for dewatering a biological solid material employing both microwave irradiation and solvent extraction. The method comprises microwave irradiation pretreatment, solvent extraction dewatering, solid-liquid separation, and solvent recovery. Through microwave irradiation of an aqueous biological solid material, gaps in the solid material are increased, and the biological material is fractured, thus releasing more bound water in the solid material. Subsequently, the microwave-irradiated biological solid material is brought into full contact with an organic solvent, allowing the solvent to absorb and extract moisture from the solid, thus removing moisture from the solid. The aqueous solvent is then subjected to evaporation under reduced pressure or gasification under reduced pressure in a separation apparatus so as to separate the moisture and the solvent. The solvent is then compressed, condensed and recovered for recycling. Also provided is a device for implementing the dewatering method.
Additive-amplified microwave pretreatment of wastewater sludge
Wastewater sludge is treated by combining the sludge with a carbon-based dielectric additive that includes carbon to yield a modified sludge, irradiating the modified sludge with microwave radiation to yield a treated sludge, and providing the treated sludge to an anaerobic digester.
