METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECYCLING WASTE WATER FROM A GROUTING PROCESS
A method of recycling waste water from an offshore grouting process is provided. The method includes the steps of receiving waste water from a grouting equipment cleaning process, passing the waste water into a settling tank where sediment is separated from the waste water, removing water from the settling tank, and re-using the water removed from the settling tank.
Method and system for lysing a liquid sample with augmented oxidizing agents to create a solution with a reduced microbial concentration and precipitate formation
A method for differentially lysing a liquid sample or target material using an augmented oxidizing agent (AOA), which includes a quantity of electronically modified oxygen derivatives (EMODs). The method reduces or eliminates total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), Biologic Oxygen Demand (BOD), microbial concentration, biofilms and other content in the liquid target material known or suspected to contain animal fluids, blood and blood cells and suspected or known to contain eukaryotic cells, microbial cells, bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi, prions, organic matter, minerals, proteins or associated structures. The BOD, TDS and TSS can be lowered or eliminated as desired. This action is directly proportional to the quantity of EMODs in the AOS applied to the liquid target material.
Absorbent and method of making and use of the same
An absorbent compound and method of making the same, where the absorbent compound includes an amine oxide that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound and a polymer that comprises about 30% to about 55% of the absorbent compound.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF LIQUID WASTE STREAMS
The disclosure relates to anaerobic digestion of liquid waste streams. In one embodiment, the system for treating liquid waste comprises: an acid forming chamber; a plug-flow methanic chamber downstream from the acid forming chamber; and a weir structure provided between the acid forming chamber and the methanic chamber.
GASIFICATION AND FISCHER-TROPSCH PROCESS WASTE WATER TREATMENT
In a process for treating wastewater from a combined gasification and Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) process, feedstock derived from Municipal Solid Waste or the like is gasified in a reactor (R) and treated in a cleanup unit (C) which generates a first wastewater stream (1st WWT STREAM) containing salts and inorganic pollutants. The first wastewater stream is treated in a treatment unit (T1) to remove inorganic pollutants derived from the syngas The treatment comprises a) degassing, and subsequently b) neutralising the first wastewater stream before treatment in a Dissolved Air Flotation unit (72c) and filtering in a moving sand bed or similar (72d) to remove solids, and a stripping process to remove ammonia. A second wastewater stream (2.sup.nd WWT Stream) containing organic pollutants but being low in salts arises from the F-T process and is treated separately to allow recycling within the F-T process.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING WASTEWATER USING NON-CHEMICAL PROCESS
A method for treating wastewater, comprising: (i) injecting a hydrate-forming gas (e.g., propane) into the wastewater under conditions of elevated pressure and reduced temperature to form a solid hydrate composed of the hydrate-forming gas and water from the wastewater; and (ii) separating the solid hydrate from the wastewater to result in removal of water from the wastewater, thereby resulting in partially dewatered wastewater, and optionally, (iii) lowering the pressure and/or raising the temperature of the solid hydrate to decompose the solid hydrate into reformed hydrate-forming gas and reformed water, and further optionally, recycling the reformed hydrate-forming gas for use in step (i) and/or capturing the reformed water from step (iii) and further decontaminating until suitable for release into waterway or for use in a process. The invention is also directed to an apparatus for practicing the method described above.
Bio-Assisted Process for the treatment and regeneration of spent caustic
The present invention relates to a bio-assisted method for treatment of spent caustic by treating with haloalkaliphilic consortium of bacteria capable of reducing or transforming sulphides, thiols, mercaptants and other sulphur containing compounds, phenols, hydrocarbons, naphthenic acids and their derivatives in spent caustic.
VACUUMED GAP MEMBRANE DISTILLATION (VAGMED) MODULE, MULTI-STAGE VAGMED SYSTEMS, AND VAGMED PROCESSES
Vacuumed gap membrane distillation (VAGMED) modules, and multi-stage VAGMED systems and processes using the modules are provided. In an embodiment, the membrane distillation modules can comprise: a) a condenser including a condensation surface; b) a first passageway having an inlet for receiving a first feed stream and an outlet through which the first stream can pass out of the first passageway, the first passageway configured to bring the first feed stream into thermal communication with the condensation surface; c) an evaporator including a permeable evaporation surface allowing condensable gas to pass there through; d) a second passageway having an inlet for receiving a second feed stream and an outlet through which the second feed stream can pass out of the second passageway, the second passageway configured to bring the second feed stream into communication with the permeable evaporation surface; and e) an enclosure providing a vacuum compartment within which the condenser, the evaporator and the first and second passageways of the module are contained.
HYBRID ACTIVATED IRON-BIOLOGICAL WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A hybrid activated iron-biological treatment system and method for treating wastewater. The treatment system includes a combination of zero valent iron, ferrous iron, an iron oxide, and a denitrification microorganism.
Rice-husk derived silicon carbide membrane sorbent for oil removal
A membrane sorbent is described, which comprises 1-6 wt % silicon carbide nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer matrix. The polymer matrix may comprise polysulfone and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The membrane sorbent is used for separating oil from a contaminated water mixture. The silicon carbide nanoparticles of the membrane sorbent may be made from rice husk ash.
