Ultraviolet water disinfection system
A solution for treating a fluid, such as water, is provided. An ultraviolet transparency of a fluid can be determined before or as the fluid enters a disinfection chamber. In the disinfection chamber, the fluid can be irradiated by ultraviolet radiation to harm microorganisms that may be present in the fluid. One or more attributes of the disinfection chamber, fluid flow, and/or ultraviolet radiation can be adjusted based on the transparency to provide more efficient irradiation and/or higher disinfection rates. In addition, various attributes of the disinfection chamber, such as the position of the inlet(s) and outlet(s), the shape of the disinfection chamber, and other attributes of the disinfection chamber can be utilized to create a turbulent flow of the fluid within the disinfection chamber to promote mixing and improve uniform ultraviolet exposure.
Lamp module comprising light-emitting diodes and photoreactor

The lamp module has a support body (3) with at least one light-emitting diode (LED) (1), a head part (12) for electrically connecting the at least one LED (1) and for mounting the support body (3), and an immersion tube (11) that delimits an area (19) in which the support body (3) is arranged together with the at least one LED (1). The area (19) delimited by the immersion tube (11) is filled with an electrically non-conductive liquid (100), which is transparent to the wavelengths of the radiation emitted by the LEDs (1) of the lamp module (10), such that the at least one LED (1) is completely immersed into the non-conductive liquid (100), wherein the head part (12) has connection lines (18, 18) which communicate with the area (19) for supplying and discharging the non-conductive liquid (100), and the support body (3) is designed as a heat sink which delimits at least one internal fluid path as a supply section (4) for the non-conductive liquid (100). The supply section (4) is connected to one of the connection lines (18, 18′) via the head part (12) and opens into the area (19) on the support body (3) side facing away from the head part (12). The invention additionally relates to a photoreactor which is equipped with a corresponding lamp module.
Device And Use Thereof For The UV Treatment Of Fluids
A device for the treatment of fluids has a flow-through housing, a cover, an inlet, a reactor chamber with inner walls, an outlet and UV LED radiation sources directed into the reactor chamber, and also a power supply. The device achieves a high purifying performance with less technical complexity and less installation space and needs only little electrical power. The interior of the reactor chamber has a flow-related design. The radiation sources are arranged in the fluid on or in an inner wall and a rotating fluid vortex is imparted to a fluid flowing through by the flow-related design. The radiation sources radiate radially from the outside inward and/or laterally onto the fluid vortex. At least a partial stream of the fluid in the fluid vortex passes a number of times by the radiation sources before leaving the reactor chamber.
FLUID-FLOW STERILIZATION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR USING THE SAME
Efficient sterilization of a flow of fluid containing a pathogen/virus contaminant is achieved by filtering the fluid while exposing the contaminant to mechanical abrasion against a component of the filter system, ionization with material formed as a result of interaction of UV-radiation with an element of the filter system, and direct irradiation of the contaminant with UV-radiation.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING THE BACTERIAL DISINFECTION OF A FLUID USING POINT RADIATION SOURCES
A system for disinfecting a fluid, including: a flow cell including one or more inlet ports and one or more outlet ports, wherein the flow cell is configured to communicate a fluid containing a biological contaminant from the one or more inlet ports to the one or more outlet portions through an interior portion thereof; and one or more point radiation sources disposed about the flow cell, wherein the one or more point radiation sources are operable for delivering radiation to the biological contaminant; wherein an interior surface of the flow cell is operable for reflecting the radiation delivered to the biological contaminant by the one or more point radiation sources; and wherein the interior surface of the flow cell is operable for reflecting the radiation delivered to the biological contaminant by the one or more point radiation sources such that a radiation intensity is uniform throughout the interior portion of the flow cell. In one exemplary embodiment, the flow cell is an integrating sphere. Optionally, the system also includes a photocatalyzing material disposed on at least a portion of the interior surface of the flow cell.
Water treatment system
A water treatment system having a base assembly and a treatment assembly. The treatment assembly of the system may be configured to filter particulates from water. The base assembly may include a UV reactor operable to disinfect water for consumption.
UV REFLECTIVE SYSTEM INCLUDING A THIN PLASTIC COATED ALUMINUM REFLECTOR OR A THIN PLASTIC REMOVABLE BLADDER
A water purification system includes one or more UV light sources that produce germicidal UV light and provide the UV light to a given amount of fluid contained in a chamber as a batch or as flowing through the chamber. An inner surface of the chamber, that may be reflective, is coated with a thin plastic film, such as polypropylene, that is highly transmissive to UV germicidal light. The thin plastic film separates the inner surface from the fluid, and the UV light passes through the thin plastic film to reach the fluid that is being purified in the chamber. The thin plastic film may be melted at relatively low temperatures to provide heat sealing of the surface to produce the chamber. Alternatively, the thin plastic film may be readily shaped as a bag or pipe that contains or directs fluid flow.
