FLUID DECONTAMINATION APPARATUS
20200399140 · 2020-12-24 · ·

A fluid decontamination apparatus is provided having a container body with a plurality of three-dimensional open structure (3DOS) substrates spaced about therein, wherein a contaminated fluid flowing through the container body will contact the 3DOS substrates. Nozzles can be inserted and secured within inlet apertures disposed about the container body, configured to inject the contaminated fluid with/without air to induce the occurrence of hydrodynamic cavitation. The substrates can be porous and permeable enabling the contaminated fluid to flow therethrough, wherein the fluid flow passageway through the pores extends the volume of contaminated fluid exposed to turbulent and cavitation inducing flow conditions. Moreover, the 3DOS substrates may be coated with one or more types of catalysts so as to initiate chemical reactions. As such, the extended exposure of the contaminated fluid to hydrodynamic cavitation forming conditions, along with the chemical reactions carried out on the porous surfaces, enable an increased number of toxic species and unwanted organic compounds to be destroyed and/or altered, thereby enhancing the decontamination of the flowing fluid.

WATER DISINFECTION CHAMBER AND SYSTEM WITH UVC LEDs

A water disinfection chamber includes one or more UVC LEDs. The chamber is constructed of Teflon or employs a Teflon PTFE liner to increase UV reflections through the volume of the chamber. LEDs are positioned in specific locations to both provide maximum UV intensity in the main fluid flow path and an angle to allow enough reflections to fill the chamber with UV light to disinfect the fluid flowing through the chamber. The chamber is scalable in size and in the number of LEDs employed including the number of rings where LEDs are located.

Cooling Tower with UV Treatment of Drift
20200363144 · 2020-11-19 ·

The present disclosure relates to a cooling tower having a fill media, water distribution system, plenum, and an ultraviolet (UV) light emitter. The water distribution system distributes water to the fill media. A flow of air passes through the fill media and past a flow of the water and out of the cooling tower via an outlet. The plenum is defined by a volume between the fill media and the outlet. The UV light emitter is disposed in the plenum and configured to inactivate or kill organisms in a drift.

PHOTOCATALYTIC FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR SYSTEMS

The Invention describes photocatalytic reactor systems that employ fluidization of the photocatalyst. These systems are useful for performing chemical transformations on a chemical containing fluid, including for VOCs. Aspects of the invention include non-imaging optics, abrasion resistant coatings and photoreactor designs.

System for UV light treatment of a fluid
10836655 · 2020-11-17 · ·

The present invention generally relates to a system for treating a fluid and specifically to a treatment system (200) configured for selectively activating a first (206) and a second UV light source (104). The aim of the invention is to reduce the effective energy consumption of a system for treating a fluid with UV light. The invention especially concerns to overcome the drawback with mercury light sources, which do not turn on immediately. Only the second UV light source (104) is an UV mercury based light source and the electrical power supply is configured to selectively deactivate the first UV light source (206) based on a predetermined condition based on a warm-up period for the second light source.

Systems and methods for applying ultraviolet light

Systems and methods for applying light to an environment are provided. A system may include a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) arrays. Each LED array may include one or more LEDs that are configured to be powered on and off together. The system may be configured such that, during a first timeslot, a pulsed power input is applied to a first LED array, and during a second timeslot, the pulsed power input is applied to the second LED array.

Heat dissipation apparatus and methods for UV-LED photoreactors

A UV reactor irradiates a flow of fluid with UV radiation. The reactor comprises: a fluid conduit defined by a heat conducting conduit body comprising one or more heat conducting walls for permitting a flow of fluid therethrough; a UV-LED operatively connected to a PCB and oriented for directing radiation into the fluid conduit. The PCB comprises a heat conducting substrate having a first surface. The conduit body is in thermal contact with the first surface of the heat conducting substrate. Heat is dissipated from the UV-LED via the heat conducting substrate, the thermal contact between the first surface of the heat conducting substrate and the heat conducting conduit body, and from the one or more heat conducting walls of the heat conducting conduit body to the fluid flowing through the fluid conduit.

Sterilization apparatus

A sterilization apparatus is provided at a discharge port for supplying a liquid. The sterilization apparatus includes: an annular light guide that has a connection end that is connected to the discharge port and an open end that is on the opposite side of the connection end, and that forms a flow passage communicating with the discharge port; and a light source that allows ultraviolet light to enter the light guide such that the ultraviolet light is transmitted through the light guide while being reflected between an inner circumferential surface and an outer circumferential surface of the light guide. The sterilization apparatus irradiates a liquid that is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of the light guide with the ultraviolet light for sterilization.

Fluid purification system and method

An in-line fluid purification system uses a jacket (26) surrounding a fluid passageway (28), formed of a UV transmissive material. The jacket (26) may be surrounded by a UV reflective material (30). UV radiation (20) is coupled into the jacket (26), and the jacket (26) disperses and reflects the radiation over the entire cross section of the passageway (28). In this way, UV illumination of the full cross section of a fluid passageway (28) is ensured.
