METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GLASS FILM
A method of manufacturing a glass film using a roll-to-roll process in which a long glass film from a feed roll is wound on a winding roll through a plurality of steps, the plurality of steps comprising: a step of cutting the glass film along a feed direction at a predetermined position in a width direction; and a step of polishing cutting surfaces of glass films into which the glass film is cut.
Methods of measuring a size of edge defects of glass sheets using an edge defect gauge and corresponding edge defect gauge
An edge defect gauge that measures a size of edge defects of glass sheets, the edge defect gauge comprising: a body including opposite end edges and opposite side edges that extend between the end edges forming a body, the body having opposite flat faces; and at least one of (i) a dog ear measuring projection extending outward from one of the end edges at one of the side edges, the dog ear measuring projection having a predetermined height and a predetermined length or (ii) a cantilever measuring recess extending inward from the other end edge at the one of the side edges, the cantilever measuring recess having a predetermined height and a predetermined length.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CUTTING GLASS SHEETS
A method is provided that includes providing a glass sheet of a thickness of at most 300 μm and irradiating the glass sheet with a pulsed laser beam. The laser beam has a light intensity inside the glass sheet leaves a filamentary damage along its path through the glass sheet. The laser beam and the glass sheet are moved relative to each other so that due to the pulses of the laser beam filamentary damages are inserted next to one another along a path running on the glass sheet. During the insertion of the filamentary damages, a tensile stress is applied on the glass at the filamentary damages and in the direction transverse to the path of the adjacent filamentary damages so that the glass sheet separates along the path during insertion of the filamentary damages.
Glass film production method
A method of manufacturing a glass includes a conveying step of moving a conveyance sheet material that contacts a lower surface of a glass film, to thereby convey the glass film. The conveyance sheet material includes a first contact portion that contacts the lower surface of the glass film on an upstream side in a manufacture-related process step, a second contact portion that contacts the lower surface of the glass film on a downstream side in the manufacture-related process step, and a non-contact portion that is prevented from contacting the lower surface of the glass film. In this method, the manufacture-related process step includes subjecting the glass film to a predetermined process at a position corresponding to the non-contact portion between the first and second contact portions while simultaneously moving the first, second, and non-contact portions of the conveyance sheet material through the conveying step.
Glass substrate, laminated substrate, laminated substrate manufacturing method, laminate, package, and glass substrate manufacturing method
A glass substrate is laminated with a substrate containing silicon to thereby form a laminated substrate. The glass substrate has a concave surface and a convex surface and has one or more marks that distinguish between the concave surface and the convex surface.
Method and device for producing band-shaped glass film
A manufacturing method for a band-shaped glass film (GF) includes use of: a plurality of rollers (10) configured to change a direction of the falling band-shaped glass film (GF) to a horizontal direction; and a first horizontal-conveyance unit (4) configured to convey the band-shaped glass film (GF) in the horizontal direction after the changing of the direction of the band-shaped glass film (GF). After a lower end of the band-shaped glass film (GF) passes through a position between the plurality of rollers (10) being at a retreated position (P2) and the first horizontal-conveyance unit (4), the plurality of rollers (10) are moved from the retreated position (P2) to a regular position (P1) to apply a pressing force to the band-shaped glass film (GF), to thereby cut the band-shaped glass film (GF) along a width direction by bend-breaking.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING THIN GLASS AND THIN GLASS RIBBON PRODUCED THEREBY
A method for producing a flat thin glass ribbon is provided. The method includes the steps of drawing melted glass downward away from a tank in a pulling direction while applying tensile forces which act in the pulling direction to form the thin glass ribbon having a thickness of at most 250 μm and cooling the thin glass ribbon until a temperature of the thin glass ribbon undershoots a glass transition temperature. The tensile forces are transferred to the thin glass ribbon by at least two pairs of drawing rollers. The at least two pairs of drawing rollers are spaced apart transversely to the pulling direction and contact the thin glass ribbon on longitudinal edges of the thin glass ribbon. The thin glass ribbon only makes contact with the at least two pairs of drawing rollers at a position where the temperature of the thin glass ribbon is at most at or below 500° C.
Method for breaking out a sheet of glass
The method includes tracing a score line on the surface of the glass, using a scoring tool, and breaking out using a local pressure system applied on the opposite face and opposite the score line, the local pressure system being moved and pressed along the score line on the opposite face.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING GLASS SHEETS AND GLASS SHEETS PRODUCED BY SUCH METHOD AND USE THEREOF
A method for producing ultra-thin glass sheets is provided that results in glass sheets with high edge strength. The method includes: hot forming a continuous glass ribbon with a glass thickness from molten glass; annealing the glass ribbon with an annealing rate chosen based on the glass thickness; producing a laser beam focus area that is longer than the glass thickness; introducing filamentary defects into the glass ribbon using the laser beam so that the filamentary defects extend from one face to the opposite face and are spaced apart from one another along the breaking lines to produce transverse breaking lines and longitudinal breaking lines with margins each comprising a thickened bead; separating the beads along the longitudinal breaking lines and separating glass sheets by severing along the transverse breaking lines.
GLASS ROLL, GLASS ROLL MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND QUALITY EVALUATION METHOD
A glass roll of band-shaped glass film is free of skew and single slack when a roll-to-roll mode is used. The band-shaped glass film is wound into a roll shape and has creases formed thereon. The band-shaped glass film includes an effective section with two side edges in a width direction extending parallel to each other, and leading and trailing end portions extending parallel to the width direction. When a length from the leading end portion to the trailing end portion along a surface of the effective section is measured along each of a first position along one side edge and a second position along another side edge, a difference between the first and second measurement lengths is 400 ppm or less of a longer measurement length of the first and second measurement lengths.
