PRESTRESS BY USE OF A GRADIENT MATERIAL
The invention relates to glass articles, such as for example glass tubes or flat glasses, where the material at the surface by a targeted process control has gradient material properties which in turn result in a compressive prestress of the surface. The invention also relates to a method for the production of the glass articles as well as their use.
FLEXIBLE GLASS ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
An element of an inorganic brittle material having two opposed sides and a circumferential edge includes at least three sections. The at least three sections include a first section and two second sections, the second sections adjoining the first section so that the first section is arranged between the second sections. The first section includes an arrangement of openings forming passages from one side to an opposed side of the element so that the first section has a higher flexibility than the second sections.

Transparent tantalum oxide glass-ceramics and transparent aluminum tantalate glass-ceramics
A transparent glass-ceramic composition including: of the formula Ta.sub.2-xAl.sub.xO.sub.5-x where x is less than 1; of the formula AlTaO.sub.4; of the formula AlPO.sub.4; a mixture of AlTaO.sub.4 and AlPO.sub.4; or a mixture of the formula Ta.sub.2-xAl.sub.xO.sub.5-x, AlTaO.sub.4, and AlPO.sub.4. Also disclosed are transparent glass-ceramic compositions including, for example, a dopant as defined herein, or a supplemental metal oxide or metalloid oxide of M.sub.xO.sub.y, M.sub.xM′.sub.x′O.sub.y, or a mixture thereof such as oxides of Nb, Ti, W, B, or Ga, as defined herein. Also disclosed are methods of making the disclosed transparent glass-ceramic compositions, and optical articles, optical components, and optical apparatus thereof.
Enamel composition, method for preparing enamel composition, and cooking appliance
An enamel composition, a method for preparing an enamel composition, and a cooking appliance are provided. The enamel composition may include phosphorus pentoxide (P.sub.2O.sub.5) at 15 to 50 wt %; silicon dioxide (SiO.sub.2) at 10 to 20 wt %; boron oxide (B.sub.2O.sub.3) at 1 to 15 wt %; one or more of lithium oxide (Li.sub.2O), sodium oxide (Na.sub.2O), or potassium oxide (K.sub.2O) at 5 to 20 wt %; one or more of sodium fluoride (NaF), calcium fluoride (CaF.sub.2), or aluminum fluoride (AlF.sub.3) at 1 to 5 wt %; one or more of magnesium oxide (MgO), barium oxide (BaO), or calcium oxide (CaO) at 1 to 35 wt %; and one or more of titanium dioxide (TiO.sub.2), cerium dioxide (CeO.sub.2), molybdenum trioxide (MoO.sub.3), bismuth oxide (Bi.sub.2O.sub.3), or copper oxide (CuO) at 10 to 25 wt %, such that a heating time required for cleaning may be shortened and oil contaminants may be completely removed.
