A foldable cover article has a total thickness t≤300 μm, which is bendable to a minimum bending radius r≤20 mm without breakage and a pencil hardness HR≥HB. The foldable cover article includes a glass or glass-ceramic substrate with a thickness 5 μm≤t1≤150 μm and a polymer layer and/or a hard material coating with a total thickness 5 μm≤t2≤150 μm. For each 20 mm width of the foldable cover article, when the foldable cover article is broken upon bending along the direction perpendicular to the width, a number of projects with a longest linear extension L≥5 mm is less than 10 and/or a number of projects with a longest linear extension L<5 mm is less than 50.

The present invention relates to an article comprising at least one glass-ceramic substrate, in particular a plate, intended, for example, to cover or receive at least one heating element, said substrate exhibiting, in at least one zone, a surface roughness such that the characteristic dimensions of the patterns forming said roughness are between 2 and 100 μm. The present invention deals with a tube (1) with a tube base body (2) which consists of glass, wherein at least the inside of the tube base body (2) is at least partially covered a hydrophobic coating (3). The use of such tubes (1) as drinking straws leads to multiple use, ecologically friendly drinking straws which meet hygienic requirements and have a good cleanability. The present invention also deals with a process for producing such tubes.

An article that includes: a glass-based substrate comprising opposing major surfaces; a crack mitigating composite over one of the major surfaces, the composite comprising an inorganic element and a polymeric element; and a hard film disposed on the crack mitigating composite comprising an elastic modulus greater than or equal to the elastic modulus of the glass-based substrate. The crack mitigating composite is characterized by an elastic modulus of greater than 30 GPa. Further, the hard film comprises at least one of a metal-containing oxide, a metal-containing oxynitride, a metal-containing nitride, a metal-containing carbide, a silicon-containing polymer, a carbon, a semiconductor, and combinations thereof.
