This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mineral wool board, comprising the following steps in the given order: providing mineral wool fibers having a fiber length of 50 to 800 m; gluing the fibers with a liquid binder comprising phenolic resin, whereby the ratio of binder (based on the solids content of the resin of the binder) to mineral wool fibers is 5 to 30% by weight, and pressing the glued fibers using heat and pressure.

A textile sleeve for protecting an elongated member comprises a tubular body, made from a woven or braided fiberglass yarn, having an inner surface and an outer surface. A coating adheres to the outer surface providing heat resistance to said tubular body. The coating is a silicone rubber containing phenyl partially disposed therein. According to one aspect, the silicone rubber is a phenyl containing polysiloxane. According to another aspect, the silicone rubber has a formula of RSiO.sub.3/2 wherein R includes phenyl and oxygen or R consists of phenyl and oxygen. The tubular body has a heat resistance of at least 550 C. A method of making the textile sleeve is also disclosed herein.

The method also includes the step of spraying at least a portion of the cable core with at least one material. The at least one material includes one or more components that cure to form an elastomer, and the at least one material forms a jacket surrounding the cable core. Additionally, embodiments of an optical fiber cable having a spray-on coating are provided.
