High hardness articles including an optical layer and methods for making the same
An article, comprising an optical layer disposed on a transparent layer, can have a maximum hardness of about 10 GigaPascals (GPa) to about 50 GPa. The optical layer can comprise a first portion and a second portion that are contiguous with one another at one major surface the optical layer. The portions may exhibit specific differences in average reflectance value, observed color, and/or angular color shift relative to each other. In some embodiments, a photopic average reflectance of the first portion may differ from an average reflectance of the second portion by about 5% or more. In other embodiments, a color of the first portion can have a color difference from a color of the second portion of about 4 or more in CIE color coordinate space.
Light reflective film and light reflector produced using the same
The light reflective film has improved adhesive property between a light reflective layer and a hard coat layer. The light reflective film has a high refractive index layer, a low refractive index layer, a resin adhesive layer, and a hard coat layer laminated on a substrate, in this order. The hard coat layer has an active energy ray-curable resin. The resin adhesive layer has at least one resin selected from polyvinyl acetal resins, acrylic resins, and urethane resins.
SMUDGE, SCRATCH AND WEAR RESISTANT GLASS VIA ION IMPLANTATION
Mechanical properties of a cover glass for a touch screen are improved by ion implanting the front surface. The implant process uses non-mass analyzed ions that physically embed in voids between inter-connected molecules of the glass. The embedded ions create compression stress on the molecular structure, thus enhancing the mechanical properties of the glass to avoid scratches. Also, implanting ions containing fluoride enhances the hydrophobic and oleophobis properties of the glass to prevent finger prints.
SUBSTRATE PROVIDED WITH A STACK HAVING THERMAL PROPERTIES AND A METALLIC TERMINAL LAYER
A substrate is coated on one face with a thin-films stack having reflection properties in the infrared and/or in solar radiation including at least one metallic functional layer, based on silver or on a metal alloy containing silver, and at least two antireflection coatings. The coatings each include at least one dielectric layer. The functional layer is positioned between the two antireflection coatings. The stack also includes a terminal layer which is the layer of the stack which is furthest from the face. The terminal layer is a metallic layer consisting of zinc and tin, made of Sn.sub.xZn.sub.y with a ratio of 0.1≦x/y≦2.4 and having a physical thickness of between 0.5 nm and 5.0 nm excluding these values, or even between 0.6 nm and 2.7 nm excluding these values.
COATED GLASS SUBSTRATE OR GLASS CERAMIC SUBSTRATE WITH RESISTANT MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURFACE PROPERTIES, METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND USE OF THEREOF
The invention relates to a coated glass substrate or glass ceramic substrate with resistant, multi-functional surface properties, including a combination of anti-microbial, anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint properties, or a combination of anti-microbial, anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint properties where the substrate is chemically pre-stressed, or a combination of anti-microbial and anti-reflective properties where the substrate is chemically pre-stressed. The coated glass substrate or glass ceramic substrate exhibits a unique combination of functions which are permanently present and do not exert a negative effect on each other.
ANTIMICROBIAL GLASS COATING
The invention relates to an object having a coating arranged on at least one surface of the object, which comprises at least one antimicrobially active layer having an antimicrobial agent, wherein the agent comprises a copper (I) compound and/or a copper (II) compound.
WINDOW AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A window includes a base substrate including a planar portion and a curved portion surrounding at least a part of the planar portion, a front cover layer disposed on the base substrate, a flat cover layer overlapping the planar portion and disposed on the base substrate, and a bending cover layer overlapping the curved portion and disposed on the base substrate. The front cover layer and the bending cover layer each include an inorganic material.
Opaque white coating with non-conductive mirror
An opaque cover is provided for a capacitive sensor. The cover includes a transparent substrate, and at least one white coating layer including white pigments disposed over at least one portion of the transparent substrate. The cover also includes a non-conductive mirror structure disposed over the at least one white coating layer. The non-conductive mirror structure includes a number of first dielectric layers having a first refractive index interleaved with second dielectric layers having a second refractive index. The first and second dielectric layers have dielectric constants below a threshold.
Durable and scratch-resistant anti-reflective articles
Embodiments of durable, anti-reflective articles are described. In one or more embodiments, the article includes a substrate and an optical coating disposed on the major surface. The optical coating includes an anti-reflective coating and a scratch-resistant coating forming an anti-reflective surface. The article exhibits a maximum hardness of 12 GPa or greater, as measured on the anti-reflective surface by a a Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test along an indentation depth of about 100 nm or greater. The articles of some embodiments exhibit a single side average light reflectance measured at the anti-reflective surface of about 8% or less over an optical wavelength regime in the range from about 400 nm to about 800 nm and a reference point color shift in transmittance or reflectance of less than about 2.
