Three-dimensional printing of a porous matrix on a container
This disclosure describes container(s) having an ultraviolet (UV)-cured matrix and methods to create the same. For example, a glass container according to this disclosure has a bottom and a body extending in a direction away from the bottom along a longitudinal axis. The body has a surface having an UV-cured matrix including UV-curable varnish drops arranged in a plurality of layers and having voids existing therebetween to form a porous matrix structure. One method to form the glass container is to apply a layer of UV-curable varnish to an outer surface of the glass container as a plurality of varnish drops, so as to establish a plurality of voids between the varnish drops, cure the layer of UV-curable varnish, apply one or more additional layers of UV-curable varnish, and cure the additional layer(s) of UV-curable varnish, wherein all of the varnish drops and the voids form the UV-cured matrix.
ION IMPLANTATION TO MODIFY GLASS LOCALLY FOR OPTICAL DEVICES
Embodiments described herein provide for optical devices with methods of forming optical device substrates having at least one area of increased refractive index or scratch resistance. One method includes disposing an etch material on a discrete area of an optical device substrate or an optical device layer, disposing a diffusion material in the discrete area, and removing excess diffusion material to form an optical material in the optical device substrate or the optical device layer having a refractive index greater than or equal to 2.0 or a hardness greater than or equal to 5.5 Mohs.
GLASS MEMBER
A glass member includes a recessed portion, wherein in cross-sectional view, an angle formed between a principal surface of the glass member and an edge face of an opening of the recessed portion is 90 degrees to 130 degrees.
Methods for printing on glass
A method for printing ink on a substrate comprising the steps of coating a glass substrate with an adhesion promoter, depositing one or more layers of ink on the coated substrate, and laminating the imaged substrate. The substrate can be a glass substrate, and the adhesion promoter can include a silane material, powder coating, organophosphate primer suspended in isopropanol.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR MICROPATTERNING SUPERHYDROPHOBIC SURFACES
Described herein are patterned superhydrophobic surfaces, substrates, devices, and systems including the patterned superhydrophobic surfaces, and methods of making and uses thereof.
Semi-transparent coating material
A semi-transparent coating material for coating glass or glass ceramics includes at least one sol-gel hybrid-polymer coating system having a hybrid-polymer or inorganic sol-gel-based matrix, and nanoparticles and nanoscale pigments and/or dyes are added to the hybrid-polymer or inorganic sol-gel-based matrix.
ENAMEL COATING OF A COATED GLASS SUBSTRATE
A method of decorating a glass substrate having a coating, said method comprising: applying a paste onto at least a portion of said coating in a desired pattern; drying said paste to form a dried paste in said desired pattern; and firing said dried paste to form an enamel in said desired pattern, said enamel being directly bonded to said glass substrate by dissolution of the portion of the coating to which the paste is applied during the firing step. The paste comprises a solids portion dispersed in a dispersion medium, said solids portion including a composition comprising: 10 to 40 mol % ZnO; 20 to 40 mol % B.sub.2O.sub.3; 25 to 65 mol % Bi.sub.2O.sub.3, TeO.sub.2, or PbO, or mixtures thereof; and to 15 mol % Al.sub.2O.sub.3.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A GLASS SUBSTRATE WITH AN EMBOSSED SURFACE FINISH AND GLASS SUBSTRATE OBTAINED USING SAID METHOD
The invention relates to a method comprising the steps of: Abrasion, preferably but non-limited by means of sandblasting which produces mechanical roughing on the surface of the glass substrate, optionally applying a primer on the roughed surface, and applying an ink on this primer by means of screen printing which may be digital inkjet screen printing, drying the injected ink deposited by means of digital screen printing, and performing a tempering process. A glass substrate with an embossed surface finish is achieved which simulates the aesthetic and surface texture of different construction materials, such as stone, wood, granite, marble or porcelain, among others.
Electronic devices including laser-textured glass cover members
A laser-textured glass cover member suitable for use in an electronic device is disclosed. The laser-textured surface of the glass cover member may provide a smooth feel to an external surface of the electronic device without introducing a perceptible visual texture. Methods for making the laser-textured glass cover members are also disclosed.
DECORATED GLASS HAVING A PRINTED INK LAYER
Embodiments of a decorated glass are provided. The decorated glass includes a transparent substrate having a first major surface and a second major surface. The second major surface is opposite the first major surface. The decorated glass also includes a black ink layer disposed on the second major surface in a display region. The black ink layer has a transmission coefficient of between 0.2 and 0.85 with respect to incident light having a wavelength of 400 nm to 700 nm. The decorated glass has 2% or less of sparkle when measured from the first major surface via pixel power deviation reference (PPDr).
