MASONRY BLOCK HAVING A BIASED-RUBBER FACE
A cementitious composite and cured masonry block made from the cementitious composite. The cementitious composite contains a cement, a non-rubber aggregate, a crumb rubber and at least one of cement kiln dust and limestone powder. The crumb rubber aggregate is extracted from scrap tires after being processed and then mixed in specified percentages with the aggregate, the cement and water, then cured in forms to make the masonry blocks. In the present disclosure sand, which is used in conventional masonry blocks, is at least partially replaced with crumb rubber to produce a sand-free or sand-reduced masonry block that contains crumb rubber. The crumb rubber masonry blocks satisfy the ASTM non-load bearing requirements. The use of crumb rubber decreases the unit weight and increases thermal resistance of the masonry blocks. The use of cement kiln dust or limestone as a partial replacement of cement will lead to decrease in the cost. The use of industrial waste materials, such as crumb rubber, limestone powder and cement kiln dust, will lead to economic and environmental benefits.

Calcium hydroxide-containing compositions and associated systems and methods
Calcium hydroxide-containing compositions can be manufactured by slaking quicklime, and subsequently drying and milling the slaked product. The resulting calcium hydroxide-containing composition can have a size, steepness, pore volume, and/or other features that render the compositions suitable for treatment of exhaust gases and/or removal of contaminants. In some embodiments, the calcium hydroxide-containing compositions can include a D.sub.10 from about 0.5 microns to about 4 microns, a D.sub.90 less than about 30 microns, and a ratio of D.sub.90 to D.sub.10 from about 8 to about 20, wherein individual particles include a surface area greater than or equal to about 25 m.sup.2/g.

High reactivity lime hydrate and methods of manufacturing and uses thereof
A sorbent composition with improved acid gas reactivity comprising calcium hydroxide particles is provided. In the calcium hydroxide composition, about 90% percent of the calcium hydroxide particles are less than or equal to about 10 microns; the ratio of 90% of the calcium hydroxide particles below a specified size to the ratio of 10% of the calcium hydroxide particles above a specified size is less than about 8; and the calcium hydroxide particles have a BET surface area of about 18 m.sup.2/g or greater.
LOW VISCOSITY MILK OF LIME
Low viscosity milk of lime comprising fine lime particles in suspension in an aqueous phase containing at least a first polymer dispersant and a second dispersant being either sodium gluconate or gluconic acid, mixture of sugar containing at least glucose and fructose, said low viscosity milk of lime showing a stable viscosity over 28 days lower than or equal to 600 mPa.Math.s, preferably equal to or lower than 300 mPa.Math.s.

HIGH TEMPERATURE HYDRATOR
An apparatus includes a fluidized bed vessel with inlet ports arranged to receive at least one feed stream comprising calcium oxide, calcium carbonate, water, and a fluidizing gas into a fluidized bed vessel. The calcium oxide contacts the water to initiate a hydrating reaction to produce calcium hydroxide and heat. The fluidized bed vessel is configured to operate with a fluidization velocity that fluidizes and separates at least a portion of the calcium carbonate and at least a portion of the calcium oxide into a first fluidization regime, and at least a portion of the calcium hydroxide and at least another portion of the calcium oxide into a second fluidization regime. The apparatus further includes a heat transfer assembly configured to transfer heat of the hydrating reaction to the calcium carbonate, and a cyclone configured to separate a portion of the fluidization gas from a portion of at least one of the calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate or calcium oxide.
Method for Producing a Highly Porous Fine Powdered Slaked Lime Composition, and Product Obtained Therefrom
The present invention relates to a method for producing a highly porous fine powdery slaked lime composition, comprising a fluidification step for forming said highly porous fine powdery slaked lime composition having an Alpine fluidity greater than 50% and which is carried out in a dryer/grinder chosen from the group consisting of a pin-type dryer/grinder, a cage-type dryer/grinder, an instantaneous dryer/disagglomerator and a combination of these until the powdery slaked lime composition has a non-solid residual-phase content of less than or equal to 3.5% by weight and greater than or equal to 0.3% by weight, as well as the product obtained therefrom.
