HAND HELD WIND-UP HIGH-POWERED SPRING NON-PENETRATING CAPTIVE BOLT DEVICE
A non-penetrating captive bolt device includes a threaded mechanism for retracting a bolt against a biasing force. The bolt includes an elongated rod that projects rearward from the rear end of the bolt through a compression type spring that biases the bolt forward. A trigger actuated catch is mounted on the threaded mechanism with an internal bore, and the rod extends therein. When the threaded mechanism is advanced forward, the trigger actuated catch is advanced forward and engages the elongated rod. Retracting the threaded mechanism retracts the elongated rod and compresses the spring. Actuating triggers on the trigger actuated catch releases the elongated rod and the spring biases the bolt to a forward position.

Concussion stunner rod and nose
A stunning rod for a pneumatically operated animal concussion stunner comprises an elongated body. One end of the elongated body is adapted to receive a locking insert, and the other is adapted to engage a catch. The locking insert receives a locking element, wherein the combined locking insert and locking element are inserted into the first end of the elongated body. A strike end having a diameter larger than the diameter of the elongated body is secured to the first end of the rod via the locking insert and locking element. Locking grooves or protrusions disposed on the strike end interact with the locking insert to prevent rotation of the stunning rod and strike end during stunner operation. Lobes or flanges disposed about the periphery of the locking element interlock with grooves disposed within the rod first end, and further prevent rotation of the strike end during stunner operation.

PORTABLE STUNNER
A portable pneumatic stunner for stunning or euthanizing an animal has a piston slideable within an inner chamber, a housing with a front portion being moveable toward and away from its rear portion, a stunning rod driven by the piston forward towards the front end of the housing, a catch system for alternately holding and releasing the stunning rod, and a regulator for regulating the pressure received from a fluid container for operating the stunner. The stunning rod is driven along a longitudinal axis upon exposure of a pressurized fluid to the piston, and the stunning rod is retracted back into the stunner after firing by exerting a manual inward force on the stunning rod and housing. The catch system comprises a plurality of arcuate sections substantially forming a cylinder. The regulator determines the allowable pressure levels of the fluid the stunner is subjected to.
