Provided is a method for manufacturing a boron nitride sintered body, the method including: a nitriding step of firing a boron carbide powder in a nitrogen pressurized atmosphere to obtain a fired product containing boron carbonitride; and a sintering step of molding and heating a blend containing the fired product and a sintering aid to obtain the boron nitride sintered body including boron nitride particles and pores, in which the sintering aid contains boron oxide and calcium carbonate, and the blend contains 1 to 20 parts by mass of a boron compound and a calcium compound in total with respect to 100 parts by mass of the fired product.

A method for manufacturing a sintered product from a three-dimensional object as a solution includes: a preparation step S11, a degreasing step S12, and a sintering step S13. In S11, a multilayer made of an ink containing inorganic particles and an organic material is formed to prepare a three-dimensional object. S12 includes: a first degreasing step of heating the three-dimensional object under an inert gas atmosphere at a first average degreasing temperature (T1) for a first heating time to degrease the organic material; and a second degreasing step of heating the three-dimensional object degreased in the first degreasing step, under an inert gas atmosphere at a second average degreasing temperature (T2) higher than Ti for a second heating time to degrease the organic material. In S13, the three-dimensional object degreased in the second degreasing step is sintered at an average sintering temperature higher than T2 to obtain a sintered product.

A method of fabricating a brake component made from a ceramic matrix composite is disclosed. In various embodiments, the method includes infiltrating a carbon fabric with a slurry containing a ceramic powder and a sintering aid; laying up the carbon fabric in a desired geometry to form a raw component; warm pressing the raw component to form a green component; and sintering the green component via a spark plasma sintering process to form a sintered component.
