Poultry stun detection system and method
12501907 · 2025-12-23 · ·

A poultry stun detection system is designed for using with a poultry slaughter platform, wherein the poultry stunning detection system includes at least: a first camera device, a second camera device, a network transmission device, and a computer processing device. The poultry stun detection system utilizes visual devices to immediately determine whether the stunned poultry still has perception in real time, and employs the YOLOv4 deep learning model to enhance the recognition accuracy of whether the poultry has lost its consciousness after stunning.

ANIMAL EUTHANASIA METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method and apparatus involving a euthanasia process are provided. The euthanasia process is carried out in a chamber including electric stunning to induce insensibility and reduced atmospheric pressure to induce hypoxia. The described method and apparatus provide a more humane system for euthanizing animals and reducing any negative impacts for people carrying out the process.

An enclosure for stunning animals for use in livestock/slaughterhouse operations comprising an animal-supporting floor, a plurality of upward-extending sidewalls around the floor to enclose an animal before and during stunning, and a moveable stunner mount for securing an electrical or pneumatic stunner. The enclosure comprises a second moveable stunner mount for securing a second stunner such that a single enclosure may be used for both electrical or percussive stunning operations. One or more moveable panels may be used to secure the animal within the enclosure. After moving the animal into the enclosure and securing the animal head in a position to be stunned, the animal may be stunned via an electrical or pneumatic stunner, and the animal carcass may be removed from the enclosure. The enclosure may utilize a control system having a computer program code to carry out stunning operations.

Application of microwaves to animals

Methods and apparatus for inducing unconsciousness by warming of the brain of an animal by applying microwave radiation through an applicator are described. An electromagnetic flux concentrator comprises a tubular section of reducing internal cross-sectional area and at least one ridge internally thereof extending longitudinally. The applicator is pre-tuned by directing low-power microwave radiation therethrough to a load that approximates the properties of the animal's head, and adjusting the impedance of the applicator to optimize the impedance match. A compensator associated with the waveguide compensates for changes in detected reflected power.
