WAREWASH MACHINE DRAIN DOWN PROCESS AND ASSOCIATED WAREWASH MACHINE

A method of draining a wash tank of a warewash machine involves: (a) turning off, or maintaining off, both a booster tank heater and a wash tank heater of the machine; (b) simultaneously operating a rinse pump, operating a drain pump and opening a booster fill valve of the machine so that all of the following take place at the same time: (b1) fresh water is delivered through a heat exchanger to the booster tank; (b2) fresh water is delivered by the rinse pump from the booster tank to a rinse spray system and falls down into the wash tank; and (b3) liquid from the wash tank is delivered by the drain pump to a drain flow path and through the heat exchanger to exchange heat with the fresh water delivered through the heat exchanger.

A dishwashing appliance, as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a tub, a hot plate heater, a fan, and a conduit. The tub may be disposed within the cabinet and define a wash chamber. The hot plate heater may be in thermal communication with the tub. The hot plate heater may include a conductive body and a resistive heating element. The conductive body may have a chamber surface disposed within the wash chamber and an internal surface directed away from the wash chamber. The resistive heating element may be mounted outside of the wash chamber in thermal communication with the conductive body. The fan may be held within the cabinet outside of the wash chamber to motivate an airflow across the resistive heating element. The conduit may lead from an inlet disposed outside of the wash chamber to an outlet defined through the tub downstream from the fan.

SYSTEM FOR ASCERTAINING FRESH WATER CONSUMPTION BY A DISHWASHER
20210330171 · 2021-10-28 ·

A system for ascertaining fresh water consumption by an, in particular, commercial dishwasher (1) or a component thereof. The system includes a container (12, 22) for temporarily storing liquids, wherein the container (12, 22) has a liquid inlet (25), which can be flow-connected to a fresh water source if required, and a liquid outlet (23), which can be flow-connected to a freshwater consuming means, in particular a freshwater consuming means of the dishwasher (1), if required. The system further includes at least one pressure sensor (B3, B4) for detecting an, in particular, hydrostatic pressure in the container (12, 22), and an evaluation device which is designed to ascertain a fresh water volume flow into the container (12, 22) depending on at least one output value of the at least one pressure sensor (B3, B4).

METHOD FOR OPERATING A PUMP

A pump of a dishwasher has an integrated heating element, a pump chamber with an inlet and an outlet, a pump rotor inside the pump chamber and a drive motor, wherein the heating element and a temperature sensor are provided on a wall of the pump chamber. For measuring a calcification of the pump chamber it is filled with water and then the pump rotor rotates for mixing the water in the pump chamber without transporting water out of the pump chamber. The temperature of the water in the pump chamber is measured with the temperature sensor as a starting temperature, and then the heating element is activated to heat the water in the pump chamber while the temperature of the water in the pump chamber is measured. Then the heating element is deactivated and the maximum temperature of the water during the heating duration or directly afterwards is determined. A temperature relation between the maximum temperature and the starting temperature of the water is calculated. These steps are executed in the pump at the very beginning of an operation of the new dishwasher after its installation for determining an initial temperature relation. These steps are automatically executed again at a later stage for determining a later temperature relation to determine the heating efficiency of the pump by comparing the later temperature relation to the initial temperature relation.
