System and method for exposed aggregate architectural coating for existing concrete structures
12209413 · 2025-01-28 ·

The invention involves an exposed aggregate architectural coating to be applied to existing concrete structures. The invention includes a method of preparing and roughening an existing concrete structure surface, mixing the components of the exposed aggregate architectural coating, applying the coating to the existing concrete structure, spreading the coating to a thickness of one-fourth of an inch or thinner, using a trowel, gauge rake, or other method to smoothen the coating, allowing the coating to cure, applying a surface retarder once the exposed aggregate architectural coating has stiffened, allowing the surface retarder to cure for twenty-four hours, and washing the surface with a pressure-washer to remove the surface retarder, then acid-washing the surface to remove residue and create a desired texture. The resulting applied exposed aggregate architectural coating will have an exposed aggregate finish that is durable and suitable for high vehicular and pedestrian traffic areas.

COATING SYSTEMS FOR CEMENT COMPOSITE ARTICLES

A method for making a coating composition by mixing one or more latex polymers and an aliphatic epoxy resin system having an epoxy equivalent weight less than 1000 and being distinct from the one or more latex polymers to provide an aqueous first component, and providing a second component having reactive groups that can react with the one or more epoxy resins. A mixture of the first and second components provides a film-forming curable coating composition that may be used on substrates including cement, cement fiberboard, wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, glass and composites.

Disclosed are a hydraulic binder composition containing at least 50% by weight of ground granulated blast furnace slag and a system for activating the slag, the system containing at least calcium sulphate, at least one product chosen from a source of Portland clinker and lime, at least one aluminum derivative and at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt; containing a ready-to-mix building material composition comprising such a hydraulic binder and aggregates of inert material capable of being agglomerated in the presence of an aqueous phase; and a process for employing the ready-to-mix composition containing a stage of mixing the said composition with water for the purpose of the preparation of a building material, such as a concrete or mortar, and in particular an adhesive mortar, pointing mortar or levelling mortar or coating.

White or colored cementitious mixture for manufacture of concrete, mortar and pastes with thermochromatic properties

The present invention relates to a white or colored cementitious mixture for the manufacture of micro-concrete or normal concrete, mortar or pastes with thermochromatic properties, i.e., changing its color depending on the temperature at which the material is exposed. This color change is reversible after some time of exposure to another level of temperature. This cementitious mixture comprises the following components, in percentage in weight of the components relative to the total weight of the composition: a) 35-80% of white or gray Portland cement; b) 0.1-30% of finely ground limestone filler; c) 0.01-3% of powdered super-plasticizer; d) 0.01-3% of modified polyvinyl resins; e) 0.01-5% of dispersant of vinyl acetate and ethylene copolymers; f) 0.3-15% of encapsulated photochromic copolymers; and also one or more components selected from: g) 1-10% of binding regulator; h) 0.1-4% of zinc stearate; i) 1-20% of metakaolins; j) 5-60% of artificial pozzolans; k) 0.1-15% of inorganic pigments.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING POWDERS FROM ALKALI SALTS OF SILANOLS

Alkali metal siliconates with low contents of water and alcohol are economically prepared in a three stage process where organoalkoxysilanes are reacted with a basic alkali metal salt to form an alcohol-rich hydrolysate, the hydrolysate is dried to a powder containing 0.5-5 wt. % alcohol, and residual alcohol is reduced in a post-treatment third step.

INORGANIC BINDER COMPOSITION COMPRISING A COPOLYMER

The present invention relates to a composition comprising () at least one inorganic binder and () at least one water-soluble copolymer based on (a) 0.1 to 20 wt % of at least one monomer of the formula (I) and (b) 25 to 99.9 wt % of at least one hydrophilic monomer (b) which is different from monomer (a), where the at least one copolymer has a molar mass average M of 1 500 000 to 30 000 000 g/mol. Furthermore, a process for producing this composition is disclosed. A further aspect of the present invention is the use of the copolymer of component () as rheological additive in a composition of the invention.

Foaming agent and method for the foaming and stabilizing of a building material slurry for porous lightweight building materials
20170036962 · 2017-02-09 ·

A foaming agent is used for foaming a building material binder paste or a building material slurry for producing porous lightweight-construction and insulating materials. On curing of the foamed slurry, the foam bubbles generate pores in the building material. The foam obtained from the foaming agent is stabilized using a long-chain or medium-chain polycarboxylate ether (PCE). The foaming agent includes a foam-forming ionic surfactant component, at least one fatty alcohol and at least one PCE in an aqueous-organic solvent which is selected from the group of alkyl glycols, alkylene glycols up to C6 alkyl, diglycols and diglycol ethers, and also, optionally, up to a maximum of 20 wt %, based on the mixture, of further ingredients.
