Paver adhesive and method of laying pavers
10550039 · 2020-02-04 · ·

One inch paver tiles may now be set over a concrete pad for use by vehicular traffic. The method and dry concrete mix may be used to overlay concrete driveways. The paver tiles may be laid over a dry concrete mix comprising a latex polymer, Portland cement, sand and a hydration control agent. After laying the paver tiles in a field over the concrete mix in the dry state, a border of paver tiles or other material may be laid in a wet concrete mix prior to hydrating the field paver tiles. The dry concrete mix cures after hydration to form a strong layer adhering the paver tiles to the concrete pad for use by vehicular traffic.

Polymer blends in the form of aqueous dispersions or powders that can be redispersed in water

Open time and creep resistance of hydraulically settable inorganic construction materials such as mortars and tile adhesives are both improved at the same time by the addition of a polymer mixture in the form of an aqueous dispersion or water-redispersible powder, containing one or more protective colloid-stabilized polymers having units derived from 20% to 30% by weight of vinyl chloride, 50% to 75% by weight of vinyl acetate, 5% to 20% by weight of ethylene, and one or more protective colloid-stabilized, vinyl halide-free polymers of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

Continuous ready mix joint treatment and texture product production

A continuous ready mix joint or texture compound manufacturing system and a method for continuously manufacturing a ready mix joint or texture compound includes a continuous mixer having an inlet and an outlet, a pump disposed at the outlet of the continuous mixer, and a disperger having an inlet and an outlet. The continuous mixer is adapted to receive at least one dry ingredient and at least one wet ingredient at the inlet and continuously mix the at least one dry ingredient and the at least one wet ingredient to form a mixed composition. The pump is adapted to pump the mixed composition from the outlet of the continuous mixer to the inlet of the disperger. The disperger is adapted to receive the mixed composition and apply a shear force to the mixed composition to form a homogenized, disperged composition.

Process and additive to improve adhesion of building compositions to substrates

The present invention relates to the use of an additive as well as a process to improve the adhesion of a mortar to a building substrate, wherein the mortar is mixed with said additive and is applied to a building substrate selected from the group of polystyrene-containing substrates, polyolefin-containing substrates or polyvinyl chloride-containing substrates, the additive containing (i) a plasticizer that is liquid at 50 C. or lower, has a boiling point of 100 C. or higher, and that has a solubility parameter 25 C. between 22.5 MPa.sup.1/2 and MPa.sup.1/2; (ii) optionally, a filler that has a BET surface area of at least 40 m.sup.2/g; (iii) optionally, a biopolymer, (iv) optionally, a protective colloid; and (v) optionally, a water-insoluble film-forming (co)polymer based on ethylenically unsaturated monomers. The invention also covers an additive and a kit of parts suitable for use in the above process.

Low dust additives for joint compounds and joint compounds thereof
10513461 · 2019-12-24 · ·

The present invention relates generally to wall repair compounds such as joint compounds, spackling compounds, and the like used to repair imperfections in walls or fill joints between adjacent wallboard panels. Particularly, the present invention relates to such a wall repair compound comprising a dust reduction additive that reduces the quantity of airborne dust generated when the hardened compound is sanded and also exhibits improved adhesive properties. The dust reduction additive also imparts adhesion to the wall repair compounds to which it is added, for example to a joint compound. The dust reduction additive comprises micro-crystalline wax or micro-crystalline wax emulsion.

Wallboards, wallboard systems and methods for installing them

The present disclosure relates generally to wallboards, for example, suitable for use in constructing internal walls. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a wallboard and a method that provides simplified high-quality surface finishing. The wallboard includes a wall panel having a front surface and a rear surface. A sandable coating is disposed on the front surface of the wall panel. The method includes positioning wallboards adjacent to one another, applying sandable joint compound over joint formed between the wallboards, and sanding the joint compound and the sandable coating of the wallboards.
