The cementitious composition may include one or more of aggregates, fibers, or admixture. The cementitious composition can be a dry blend, fresh cementitious mixture, or hardened cementitious composition. The cementitious composition can be precast concrete, stucco, GFRC, UHPC or SCC.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION PANEL MADE OF AN OXIDE CERAMIC-MATRIX COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method for producing an acoustic attenuation panel from a composite material with a ceramic oxide matrix is provided that includes draping a plurality of plies having fibrous reinforcements including fibers of ceramic material in a mold to define a first skin, depositing blocks made of fugitive material on the first skin such that a space between two blocks is defined, and draping a second plurality of plies on a surface formed by the blocks such that a second skin is defined. Rounded corners of the blocks define radii for connecting the first and second skins with walls of a honeycomb core of the acoustic panel. The method further includes using a liquid medium to infiltrate the skins and spaces with a precursor of a ceramic phase, removing the liquid medium by evaporation or polymerization, and sintering to consolidate the ceramic oxide material and removal the fugitive material.
METHOD OF FORMING PRE-FORM CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE MOLD AND METHOD OF FORMING A CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE COMPONENT
A method of forming a pre-form ceramic matrix composite mold for a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component including providing pieces of CMC remnant scrap material and randomly arranging the pieces of CMC remnant scrap material relative to one another. The method further includes debulking the pieces of CMC remnant scrap material into a rigidized shape, the rigidized shape having gaps between adjacent pieces of CMC remnant scrap material of about 10 microns and about 10 mm and a gap spacing between about 50 microns and about 50 mm, and forming the rigidized shape into a mold.
Method for manufacturing a turbomachine blade made of composite material
A method of fabricating a turbine engine blade out of composite material including fiber reinforcement densified by a matrix, the method including using multilayer weaving to make a first fiber that has a first portion forming a blade root preform and extended by a second portion, the second portion forming a tenon preform; using multilayer weaving to make a second fiber preform, the second preform including a first portion made up of two skins defining between them an internal housing, the first portion forming an airfoil preform, and a second portion extending from an outside surface of the skins, the second portion forming a platform preform; assembling the first preform with the second preform in the non-consolidated state by engaging the second portion of the first preform in the internal housing; and co-densifying the first and second preforms as assembled together in this way to obtain a turbine engine blade.
Rigidized Hybrid Insulating Non-oxide Thermal Protection System and Method of Producing a Non-oxide Ceramic Composite for Making the Same
A thermal protection system is provided for a vehicle substructure. The thermal protection system comprises an outer layer for protecting the vehicle substructure. The thermal protection system further comprises an inner layer for conforming to the vehicle substructure. The thermal protection system also comprises an insulation layer sandwiched between the inner and outer layers. The insulation layer includes a porous low-density ceramic insulating material having a densified portion that covers an inner surface of the outer layer to strengthen adhesion.
PREFORM CMC ARTICLE, CMC ARTICLE, AND METHOD FOR FORMING CMC ARTICLE
A preform CMC article is disclosed comprising an interior ply structure having at least one interior CMC ply including at least one longitudinal CMC ply disposed along the article length, an exterior shell ply forming an article surface and having at least one exterior CMC ply substantially surrounding the interior ply structure, and at least one wicking portion in which the interior ply structure penetrates the exterior ply shell with an exposed edge of the longitudinal CMC ply disposed at the article surface. A CMC article is disclosed including the interior ply structure and the exterior ply shell, wherein the longitudinal CMC ply includes an exposed edge disposed at the surface of the CMC article. A method for forming the CMC article is disclosed including wicking a melt infiltration agent into the article through the wicking portion into the interior ply structure along the longitudinal CMC ply.
