Method of joining metal-ceramic substrates to metal bodies
A method of joining a metal-ceramic substrate having metallization on at least one side to a metal body by using metal alloy is disclosed. The metal body has a thickness of less than 1.0 mm and the metal alloy contains aluminum and has a liquidus temperature of greater than 450° C. The resulting metal-ceramic module provides a strong bond between the metal body and the ceramic substrate. The resulting module is useful as a circuit carrier in electronic appliances, with the metal body preferably functioning as a cooling body.
Structure, electronic element module, heat exchanger, fuel rod, and fuel assembly
Provided is a structure including a first member (2); a second member (3) disposed opposite to the first member (2); and a glass layer (4) disposed between the first member (2) and the second member (3) so as to bond the first member (2) and the second member (3). A glass transition point of the glass layer (4) is lower than a temperature of the glass layer (4) under operation. In the glass layer (4), at least either of ceramic and metallic particles 4b, 4c is dispersed. In a temperature region lower than the glass transition point of the glass layer (4), a thermal expansion coefficient thereof falls in between thermal expansion coefficients of the first member (2) and the second member (3). This allows thermal strain caused within the structure (1) to be reduced when the structure (1) is operated at a higher temperature than a room temperature.
METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING A METAL PART AND A CERAMIC PART, AND ELECTRICAL DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR A CAPACITIVE SENSOR, PRODUCED BY SAID METHOD
A method for the assembly of a metal part and a ceramic part, including the following steps: supplying a solid ceramic part of the alumina type; supplying a solid metal part, the metal being selected from platinum and tantalum, or an alloy including a majority of one of these metals; depositing at least one layer, called interface layer, on at least one of the solid parts, the interface layer containing magnesium oxide; bringing into contact the solid metal part and the solid ceramic part such that the interface layer is located between the solid parts; and hot densification under pressure of the solid parts brought into contact, to create a close bond between the solid parts and form a spinel from the interface layer. An electrical device, such as a capacitive sensor having a sensitive part produced according to the present method, is also provided.
ADAPTER ELEMENT FOR CONNECTING AN ELECTRONICS COMPONENT TO A HEAT SINK ELEMENT, SYSTEM COMPRISING AN ADAPTER ELEMENT OF THIS KIND, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ADAPTER ELEMENT OF THIS KIND
An adapter element (10) for connecting an electronic component (30) to a heat sink element (20), including an insulation layer (15) extending along a main extension plane (HSE), and at least a first web element (11) and a second web element (12), which are arranged next to each other in a direction parallel to the main extension plane (HSE), forming a free area (13), which, in the assembled state, are arranged between the insulating layer (15) and the electronic component (30) in a direction running perpendicular to the main extension plane (HSE), and on whose front sides (18) facing away from the insulating layer (15) the electronic component (30) is arranged in the assembled state, wherein a distance (A) between the first web element (11) and the second web element (12), measured in a plane parallel to the main extension plane (HSE), is smaller than 350 μm.
Method of manufacturing a singulated feedthrough insulator for a hermetic seal of an active implantable medical device incorporating a post conductive paste filled pressing step
A method for manufacturing a singulated feedthrough insulator for a hermetic seal of an active implantable medical device (AIMD) is described. The method begins with forming a green-state ceramic bar with a via hole filled with a conductive paste. The green-state ceramic bar is dried to convert the paste to an electrically conductive material filling via hole and then subjected to a pressing step. Following pressing, a green-state insulator is singulated from the green-state ceramic bar. The singulated green-state insulator in next sintered to form an insulator that is sized and shaped for hermetically sealing to close a ferrule opening. The thusly produced feedthrough is suitable installation in an opening in the housing of an active implantable medical device.

A heater includes a base body, terminal and joining layer. The base body is made of ceramic. The joining layer contains metal as a principal ingredient and is located between the base body and the terminal. The base body includes a first surface and second surface. The first surface faces an outer side of the base body and includes at least one of a region which is superimposed on the terminal and a region which is located on a periphery of the terminal. The second surface intersects with the first surface and is located on the side closer to an internal portion of the base body on the side away from the first surface. The joining layer extends from the terminal and first surface up to the second surface.
Method to process a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) with a protective ceramic coating
A method of producing a ceramic matrix composite including a protective ceramic coating thereon comprises applying a surface slurry onto an outer surface of an impregnated fiber preform. The surface slurry includes particulate ceramic solids dispersed in a flowable preceramic polymer comprising silicon, and the impregnated fiber preform comprises a framework of ceramic fibers loaded with particulate matter. The flowable preceramic polymer is cured, thereby forming on the outer surface a composite layer comprising a cured preceramic polymer with the particulate ceramic solids dispersed therein. The cured preceramic polymer is then pyrolyzed to form a porous ceramic layer comprising silicon carbide, and the impregnated fiber preform and the porous ceramic layer are infiltrated with a molten material comprising silicon. After infiltration, the molten material is cooled to form a ceramic matrix composite body with a protective ceramic coating thereon.
