Methods for making light olefins from different feed streams
According to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, chemical streams may be processed by a method which may comprise operating a first chemical process, stopping the first chemical process and removing the first catalyst from the reactor, and operating a second chemical process. The reaction of the first chemical process may be a dehydrogenation reaction, a cracking reaction, a dehydration reaction, or a methanol-to-olefin reaction. The reaction of the second chemical process may be a dehydrogenation reaction, a cracking reaction, a dehydration reaction, or a methanol-to-olefin reaction. The first reaction and the second reaction may be different types of reactions.
Mixed metal oxide catalyst useful for paraffin dehydrogenation
The invention relates to a catalyst composition suitable for the dehydrogenation of paraffins having 2-8 carbon atoms comprising zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, optionally further comprising oxides of cerium (Ce), dysprosium (Dy), erbium (Er), europium (Eu), gadolinium (Gd), lanthanum (La), neodymium (Nd), praseodymium (Pr), samarium (Sm), terbium (Tb), ytterbium (Yb), yttrium (Y), tungsten (W) and Zirconium (Zr) or mixtures thereof, wherein said catalyst composition is substantially free of chromium and platinum. The catalysts possess unique combinations of activity, selectivity, and stability. Methods for preparing improved dehydrogenation catalysts and a process for dehydrogenating paraffins having 2-8 carbon atoms, comprising contacting the mixed metal oxide catalyst with paraffins are also described. The catalyst may also be disposed on a porous support in an attrition-resistant form and used in a fluidized bed reactor.
Process for increasing the concentration of normal hydrocarbons in a stream
A process increases the concentration of non normal paraffins in a feed stream comprising separating a naphtha feed stream into a normal paraffin rich stream and a non-normal paraffin rich stream. The non-normal paraffin rich stream is isomerized over an isomerization catalyst to convert non-normal paraffins to normal paraffins, hydrocrack C5+ hydrocarbon to C2-C4 paraffins and produce an isomerization effluent stream. The isomerization effluent stream is separated into a C3− off gas, C4 rich stream and C5+ stream that is recycled to the naphtha feed stream. A depentanizer column may be positioned to either remove C6+ from the naphtha feed stream or from a bottoms stream from a stabilizer column. The amount of C2-C4 paraffins that are provided is increased from about 55% to as much as 77% and even more with further modifications including operating at higher temperatures or increasing the volume of catalyst.

The present disclosure is to provide a catalyst for olefin production which is eco-friendly and has excellent conversion rates and selectivity and a preparation method thereof, and the catalyst for olefin production according to the present disclosure is one in which cobalt and zinc are supported with alumina. Particularly, the catalyst according to the present disclosure uses an amount of platinum that is about 400 times smaller than that of the conventional catalysts, and has high conversion rates and selectivity under conditions in which continuous reaction-regeneration process is possible without an additional hydrogen reduction process.
DEHYDROGENATION CATALYST FOR PRODUCTION OF OLEFINS FROM ALKANE GASES AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

Dehydrogenation separation unit with mixed refrigerant cooling
A main heat exchanger receives and partially condenses an effluent fluid stream so that a mixed phase effluent stream is formed. A primary separation device receives and separates the mixed phase effluent stream into a primary vapor stream including hydrogen and a primary liquid stream including an olefinic hydrocarbon. The main heat exchanger receives and warms at least a portion of the primary vapor stream to provide refrigeration for partially condensing the effluent fluid stream. The main heat exchanger also receives, warms and partially vaporizes the primary liquid stream. A mixed refrigerant compression system also provides refrigeration in the main heat exchanger.
Parallel reactor system for ethylbenzene dehydrogenation
A multi-stage dehydrogenation process including contacting, in a first stage, a feed stream comprising a hydrocarbon and steam with a dehydrogenation catalyst under dehydrogenation conditions to yield a first stage effluent, heating the first stage effluent, and contacting, in a second stage, the heated first stage effluent with a dehydrogenation catalyst under dehydrogenation conditions to yield a second stage effluent comprising a dehydrogenation product, wherein the first stage includes a first reactor and a second reactor arranged in parallel, and wherein the second stage includes a third reactor connected in series with the first reactor and the second reactor. A multi-stage dehydrogenation system for carrying out dehydrogenation is also provided.

A multi-stage dehydrogenation process including contacting, in a first stage, a feed stream comprising a hydrocarbon and steam with a dehydrogenation catalyst under dehydrogenation conditions to yield a first stage effluent, heating the first stage effluent, and contacting, in a second stage, the heated first stage effluent with a dehydrogenation catalyst under dehydrogenation conditions to yield a second stage effluent comprising a dehydrogenation product, wherein the first stage includes a first reactor and a second reactor arranged in parallel, and wherein the second stage includes a third reactor connected in series with the first reactor and the second reactor. A multi-stage dehydrogenation system for carrying out dehydrogenation is also provided.
Additives to remediate DVB cross-linking and insoluble polymer formation in the styrene process
A method of reducing the fouling in a process for the production of styrene, the method comprising: introducing an additive into a stream comprising styrene and byproduct divinyl benzene (DVB), wherein the additive comprises: at least one chemical compound comprising one or more functional groups selected from amines, alcohols, amino-alcohols, labile C—C, esters, carbamates, aldehydes, ketones, acids, acetates, benzoates, labile hydrogen, and combinations thereof, and having a boiling point greater than or equal to 170° C. and within 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60° C. of the boiling point of divinyl benzene (DVB) (which is 195° C.), wherein the at least one chemical compound is active to inhibit divinyl benzene (DVB) crosslinking. A system for carrying out the method is also provided.
