An endoscope includes an insertion portion having a light source portion configured to emit illuminating light therefrom when inserted into a body cavity. An imaging portion is configured to capture an image in the body cavity. A transmission portion configured to transmit the image captured by the imaging portion. A battery is configured to supply electric power needed for endoscopic observation. A power control portion is configured to selectively control a supply of electric power to all of the light source portion, the imaging portion, and the transmission portion in a standby mode in which power consumption is reduced compared with a normal operation mode in which a supply of electric power is performed from the battery to all of the light source portion, the imaging portion, and the transmission portion.

WINDOW SELF-DETECTION

An apparatus for intraoral scanning includes an elongate handheld wand comprising a probe at a distal end of the handheld wand, one or more light projectors coupled to the handheld wand, and one or more cameras coupled to the handheld wand. Each camera comprises a camera sensor and objective optics comprising one or more lenses. Each camera is configured to focus at an object focal plane that is located between 1 mm and 30 mm from the lens that is farthest from the camera sensor. The apparatus further includes a fluorescent transparent film deposited on a surface selected from the group consisting of: a window of the probe through which light exits and enters the probe, and a transparent surface that is not integral to the probe.

Video toothbrush

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a video toothbrush. An exemplary video toothbrush may include a handle housing an exciter and a support element including a support neck and a support head. The support element may be configured to extend from a proximal connection with the handle to a distal end. The video toothbrush may further include a camera mounted near the distal end of the support head and a shaft extending from the support neck and configured to support a cleaning head toward a distal end of the shaft and configured to receive vibration from the exciter toward a proximal end of the shaft. The video toothbrush may also include the cleaning head having a plurality of bristles projecting in a first direction. The cleaning head may define a central opening. The central opening may be arranged to provide the camera with a view in the first direction.

Fully integrated, disposable tissue visualization device

The present invention relates to a fully integrated sterilizable one time use disposable tissue visualization device and methods for using such devices. Preferred embodiments of the invention facilitate the visualization of an internal tissue site while causing a minimum of damage to the surrounding tissue. Further preferred embodiments may allow for the delivery of fluids and other treatment to an internal tissue site.

Oximetry device with laparoscopic extension

A laparoscopic medical device includes an oximeter sensor at its tip, which allows the making of oxygen saturation measurements laparoscopically. The device can be a unitary design, wherein a laparoscopic element includes electronics for the oximeter sensor at a distal end (e.g., opposite the tip). The device can be a multiple piece design (e.g., two-piece design), where some electronics is in a separate housing from the laparoscopic element, and the pieces (or portions) are removably connected together. The laparoscopic element can be removed and disposed of; so, the electronics can be reused multiple times with replacement laparoscopic elements. The electronics can include a processing unit for control, computation, or display, or any combination of these. However, in an implementation, the electronics can connect wirelessly to other electronics (e.g., another processing unit) for further control, computation, or display, or any combination of these.
