A connection structure between sensor and cable includes a cable formed by assembling a plurality of electric wires each including a covering portion covering a core and a core-exposing portion exposing the core at an end of the covering portion, a spacer that is interposed in a space surrounded by the covering portions of the electric wires and holds end portions of the covering portions in the state that the end portions are spaced from each other, and a sensor that detects a physical quantity, and the core-exposing portion of each of the electric wires of the cable is electrically connected to the sensor via a fixing member in the state that each of the electric wires is held by the spacer.

Cable for conveying radiofrequency and/or microwave frequency energy to an electrosurgical instrument

Embodiments of the invention provide a hollow cable for conveying radiofrequency and/or microwave frequency energy to an electrosurgical instrument that can fit within, e.g. slide relative to, the hollow cable. The hollow cable provides a bipolar electrical connection to the electrosurgical instrument that is maintained when the electrosurgical instrument is rotated relative to the hollow cable. The cable may comprise a hollow coaxial transmission line having a rotatable component mounted at its distal end. The rotatable component comprises a longitudinal passageway continuous with the hollow coaxial transmission line. The rotatable component is rotatable relative to the transmission line and comprises a first and second conductive portions that are respectively electrically connected to first and second terminals on the coaxial transmission line and which are configured to maintain an electrical connection with their respective terminal when rotated relative to the coaxial transmission line.

OPTICAL IMAGING SYSTEM WITH ENCAPSULATION AND TETHER

A tethered imaging camera encapsulated in a shell lens element of such camera enables viewing from inside and imaging of a biological organ in/from a variety of directions. A portion of camera's optical system together with light source(s) and optical detector mutually cooperated by housing structure inside the shell are moveable/re-orientable within the shell to vary a desired view of the object space without interruption of imaging process. A tether carries electrical but not optical signals to and from the camera and controllable traction cords to move the camera, and a hand-control unit and/or electronic circuitry configured to operate the camera and power its movements. Method(s) of using optical, optoelectronic, and optoelectromechanical sub-systems of the camera.

FLEXIBLE ENDOSCOPE

A flexible endoscope includes a disposable endoscope body structure and a reusable camera assembly. The endoscope body structure includes a handle portion, a flexible inserting portion, and a line connecting portion. The flexible inserting portion is directly or indirectly connected to the handle portion. The line connecting portion includes a receptacle located in the handle portion and an external connecting portion located outside the handle portion. The receptacle is directly or indirectly connected with the external connecting portion. The handle portion is provided with a camera assembly access port for the camera assembly to access. After accessing and being assembled to the camera assembly access port, the camera assembly access port is able to insert into the receptacle to transmit electrical energy and/or a signal with the external connecting portion with the receptacle. The flexible inserting portion is provided with an instrument for controlling the flexible inserting portion to bend, and the instrument is penetrated through the flexible inserting portion.

Systems and methods for connecting a light cable to an illuminator

An illuminator including a receptacle for connecting a light cable to an illuminator. The receptacle includes a clamp assembly having a plurality of clamping jaws that are moveable from an open configuration in which a connecter of the light cable can be positioned between the clamping jaws for receiving light traveling in a light pathway in the illuminator to a closed configuration in which the clamping jaws completely block the light pathway, and a clutch that is movable between an engaged position for holding the clamping jaws in the open configuration and a disengaged position for allowing the clamping jaws to move to a gripped configuration and to the closed configuration, the clutch can be pushed by the connector when the connector is positioned between the clamping jaws to move the clutch out of the engaged position so that the clamp assembly moves the clamping jaws to the gripped configuration.

Arrangement for the sterile handling of non-sterile units in a sterile environment

An arrangement for the sterile handling of a non-sterile endoscope in a sterile environment comprises a sterile endoscope sheath for accommodating the endoscope and a cable via which the endoscope is connectable to a control unit, the arrangement further comprising a sterile cable sheath for accommodating at least a portion of the cable, wherein the endoscope sheath comprises a first sterile lock comprising at least one first sterile flap which in the closed state shields the endoscope arranged in the endoscope sheath in a sterile manner. The cable sheath comprises a second sterile lock having a second sterile flap which in a closed state shields the cable arranged in the cable sheath and/or a plug connector present on the arranged cable in a sterile manner. When connecting the cable or the plug connector to the endoscope, a movement of the first sterile flap from the closed state into an open state takes place and a movement of the second sterile flap from the closed state into an open state takes place so that a direct coupling of the cable to the endoscope or of the plug connector connected to the cable to a complementary plug connector of the endoscope is possible.
