A laryngoscope blade is provided for insertion into a patient's airway. The laryngoscope blade includes a spatula having a top surface, a proximal region, a distal region, and a longitudinal centerline extending from the proximal region to the distal region. A connector base is provided at the proximal end of the spatula for coupling the blade to a laryngoscope handle. A light guide has a first end attached to the connector base by a resilient fastener, and a second end capable of illuminating the patient's airway. A housing is provided adjacent the top surface of the spatula and includes space for receiving a portion of the light guide. The second end of the light guide has a longitudinal axis oriented substantially parallel to the longitudinal centerline of the spatula such that light emitted from the second end of the light guide is oriented directly toward a tip of the spatula.

Modular endoscope

A modular endoscope including a handle and sheath that may be coupled or uncoupled. The tip of the sheath distal from the location where it is coupled to the handle includes an illumination element, an image capture element and a deflection element, allowing the distal tip to be pointed in a selected direction.

MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS

A medical system includes a plurality of tubes configured to be arranged about a periphery of an insertion device. A lumen of each of the plurality of tubes is configured to receive a medical device. Each of the tubes is configured to be coupled to the periphery of the insertion device and is moveable from a collapsed configuration adjacent the periphery of the insertion device to an expanded configuration further radially outward of the periphery of the insertion device as compared to the collapsed configuration.

IMAGE GENERATION APPARATUS, IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS, AND IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD

An image generation apparatus includes an objective optical system, an optical-path splitter, an image sensor, and an image processor. Both a first imaging area and a second imaging area are images of a field of view of the objective optical system. An outer edge of the first imaging area and an outer edge of the second imaging area are located at an inner side of a predetermined image pickup area, and an image of the outer edge located in the predetermined image pickup area is captured by the image sensor. The image processor has reference data, and in the image processor, a feature point is extracted on the basis of the imaging area. An amount of shift between the predetermined imaging area and the image sensor is calculated from the feature point and the reference data.

Medical borescopes, such as laparoscopes. In some embodiments, a medical borescope may comprise a handle and a tube extending from the handle, which tube may be configured to reduce electromagnetic interference within the tube. The borescope may further comprise a tip assembly positioned at a distal end of the tube, which may comprise an image sensor configured to take images through the distal end of the tube. The borescope may further comprise a dongle comprising an image processor configured to receive image data from the image sensor. The dongle may be removably coupleable with the medical borescope such that the dongle can be coupled with a plurality of distinct medical borescopes.

ENDOSCOPIC DEVICE WITH INTERCHANGEABLE SHAFT

An endoscopic device includes a handle body operatively couplable to a shaft housing. The handle body includes an actuator for controlling a distal end of an endoscopic shaft extending from the shaft housing. The device also includes a pull wire attachment configured to operatively couple to a pull wire extending through the shaft housing and the endoscopic shaft to the distal end. Applying tension to the pull wire deflects the distal end of the endoscopic shaft. In addition, the device includes a pulling mechanism coupled to the actuator and having the pull wire attachment extending therefrom. When the pull wire attachment is operatively coupled to the pull wire, actuation of the actuator applies tension to the pull wire and deflects the distal end of the endoscopic shaft.
