Medical holding apparatus, medical arm system, and drape mounting mechanism
There is provided a medical holding apparatus including: a first actuator configured to cause a medical optical tool that guides light from a body cavity of a subject to a camera head during a surgical operation, to rotate about an optical axis of the medical optical tool and a rotation mechanism configured to support the camera head that acquires an image of the body cavity of the subject via the medical optical tool, the camera head being rotatable about the optical axis of the medical optical tool independently from the medical optical tool.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GUIDING AN ULTRASOUND PROBE
An ultrasound device (10) includes a probe (12) including a tube (14) sized for insertion into a patient and an ultrasound transducer (18) disposed at a distal end (16) of the tube. A camera (20) is mounted at the distal end of the tube in a fixed spatial relationship to the ultrasound transducer. At least one electronic processor (28) is programmed to: control the ultrasound transducer and the camera to acquire ultrasound images (19) and camera images (21) respectively while the ultrasound transducer is disposed in vivo inside the patient; and construct a keyframe (36) representative of an in vivo position of the ultrasound transducer including at least ultrasound image features (38) extracted from at least one of the ultrasound images acquired at the in vivo position of the ultrasound transducer and camera image features (40) extracted from one of the camera images acquired at the in vivo position of the ultrasound transducer.
INSERTION DEVICE
An endoscope as an insertion device includes an insertion portion main body extended in a direction of a longitudinal axis and having flexibility, a motor provided in an operation portion disposed on a proximal end side of the insertion portion main body, a transmission member inserted into the insertion portion main body, extended outward the insertion portion main body along the longitudinal axis, rotated around an axis by driving force of the motor, and transmitting the rotation to a distal end side of the insertion portion main body, and a detection device detecting a position along the longitudinal axis of the insertion portion main body at a predetermined site of the transmission member.
Process for percutaneous operations
A method is described for performing a percutaneous operation on a patient to remove an object from a cavity within the patient. The method includes advancing a first alignment sensor into the cavity through a patient lumen. The first alignment sensor provides its position and orientation in free space in real time. The alignment sensor is manipulated until it is located in proximity to the object. A percutaneous opening is made in the patient with a surgical tool, where the surgical tool includes a second alignment sensor that provides the position and orientation of the surgical tool in free space in real time. The surgical tool is directed towards the object using data provided by both the first and the second alignment sensors.
Instrument insertion compensation
Disclosed herein are systems and techniques for compensating for insertion of an instrument into a working channel of another instrument in a surgical system. According to one embodiment, a method of compensation includes: detecting insertion of an insertable instrument into a working channel of a flexible instrument; detecting, based on a data signal from at least one sensor, a position change of a distal portion of the flexible instrument from an initial position: generating a control signal based on the detected position change; and adjusting a tensioning of a pull wire based on the control signal to return the distal portion to the initial position.
IMAGE BASED MOTION CONTROL CORRECTION
The present invention relates to a method of adjusting control commands for moving a medical camera connected to a motorized support structure, wherein the adjustment is based on images provided by the camera. Based on a comparison of at least two images provided by the camera, an actual motion of the camera is determined and compared with an intended motion defined by a control command forwarded to the motorized support structure. In case a deviation between the intended motion and the actual motion is determined, a correction is applied to the control command such that the actual motion of the camera coincides with the intended motion.
ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM, METHOD OF SCANNING LUMEN USING ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM, AND ENDOSCOPE
An endoscope system includes: an insertion body inserted into a lumen; an objective optical system that is provided in the insertion body and acquires light from a subject as subject light; an image sensor that performs imaging based on the subject light to acquire a captured image within a field of view; a turning mechanism that causes a distal end of the insertion body to rotate around a reference axis that is an axis of the insertion body; an advancing/retreating mechanism that moves the insertion body in a direction corresponding to the reference axis; and a processor that includes hardware and is configured to control the turning mechanism and the advancing/retreating mechanism to control the field of view of the image sensor. The processor controls the turning mechanism and the advancing/retreating mechanism to perform scan of an inner wall of the lumen based on the field of view.
Biopsy apparatus and system
Certain aspects relate to biopsy apparatuses, systems and techniques for biopsy using a biopsy pattern. Some aspects relate to moving a distal portion of a medical instrument to one or more sample locations of the biopsy pattern and guiding the instrument to obtain tissue samples from the sample locations within the biopsy pattern. Some aspects relate to obtaining the biopsy pattern and adjusting the sample locations within the biopsy pattern based on various factors such as anatomical features.
Multifunctional camera system for video assisted thoracic surgery
A multifunctional camera system having a bendable arm configured to be inserted into the thoracic cavity of a patient and camera head at a distal end of the bendable arm. The camera head has a high definition video camera and a light source. The camera head has a view adjustment mechanism for changing a view angle of the camera without changing the position of the camera head. A controller controls the view adjustment mechanism under command of a surgeon.
Surgical device actuated using asymmetric spring system
A compliant surgical device such as a flexible entry guide employs tendons to operate or steer the device and attaches asymmetric or constant force spring systems to control tension in the tendons. As a result, the surgical device can be compliant and respond to external forces during a surgical procedure without rapidly springing back or otherwise causing a reaction that damages tissue. The compliance also permits manual positioning or shaping of the device during or before insertion for a surgical procedure without damaging the tendons or connections of the tendons within the device or to a backend mechanism.
