This oily moisturizer is composed of either an esterified product of a component A that is ditrimethylolpropane, and a component B that is one fatty acid, or two or more fatty acids, selected from among saturated fatty acids of 6 to 12 carbon atoms, or an esterified product of the component A, the component B, and a component C that is one fatty acid, or two or more fatty acids, selected from among fatty acids of 13 to 28 carbon atoms, wherein the hydroxyl value of the esterified product is not more than 140 mgKOH/g, and the mass ratio between fatty acid residues derived from the component B and fatty acid residues derived from the component C within the fatty acid residues that constitute the esterified product of the component A, the component B and the component C is within a range from 99.9:0.1 to 60:40.
LUBRICANT BASE OIL AND LUBRICANT COMPOSITION INCLUDING SAID LUBRICANT BASE OIL
This lubricant base oil includes a condensation ester of an alcohol (A) and a carboxylic acid (B), wherein the alcohol (A) contains a polyhydric alcohol represented by general formula (1) (in formula (1), R.sup.1-R.sup.4 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or a hydroxyl group, and at least two of R.sup.1-R.sup.4 each represents a hydroxyl group), and the carboxylic acid (B) contains a C4-C8 cycloalkane monocarboxylic acid. The lubricant base oil has excellent heat resistance and lubricating property.
LUBRICANT BASE OIL AND LUBRICANT COMPOSITION INCLUDING SAID LUBRICANT BASE OIL
This lubricant base oil includes a condensation ester of an alcohol (A) and a carboxylic acid (B), wherein the alcohol (A) contains a polyhydric alcohol represented by general formula (1) (in formula (1), R.sup.1-R.sup.4 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or a hydroxyl group, and at least two of R.sup.1-R.sup.4 each represents a hydroxyl group), and the carboxylic acid (B) contains a C4-C8 cycloalkane monocarboxylic acid. The lubricant base oil has excellent heat resistance and lubricating property.
LUBRICATING BASE OIL, LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION CONTAINING LUBRICATING BASE OIL, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Provided is a method of lubricating a sliding part by applying a lubricating base oil containing an ester compound to the sliding part. The ester compound contains a mixture of one or more compounds represented by a general formula (1) wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent a hydrogen, a methyl, a benzoyloxy, a naphthoyloxy, or general formula (2) (OC(O)R.sup.5), R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent a benzoyloxy group, a naphthoyloxy group, or general formula (2), and R.sup.5 represents a linear C5-21 alkyl group, a branched chain C9-21 alkyl group, or a C5-21 cycloalkyl group that may also be substituted with an alkyl chain. The mixture contains a compound in which at least one among R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 is general formula (2), and the proportion, in the mixture, of a compound in which at least one among R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 is a benzoyloxy group or a naphthoyloxy group is 5-100 mole %.
LUBRICATING BASE OIL, LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION CONTAINING LUBRICATING BASE OIL, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Provided is a method of lubricating a sliding part by applying a lubricating base oil containing an ester compound to the sliding part. The ester compound contains a mixture of one or more compounds represented by a general formula (1) wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent a hydrogen, a methyl, a benzoyloxy, a naphthoyloxy, or general formula (2) (OC(O)R.sup.5), R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent a benzoyloxy group, a naphthoyloxy group, or general formula (2), and R.sup.5 represents a linear C5-21 alkyl group, a branched chain C9-21 alkyl group, or a C5-21 cycloalkyl group that may also be substituted with an alkyl chain. The mixture contains a compound in which at least one among R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 is general formula (2), and the proportion, in the mixture, of a compound in which at least one among R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 is a benzoyloxy group or a naphthoyloxy group is 5-100 mole %.
Oils having antibacterial activity
Compounds, called liamocins from Aureobasidium pullulans, having the general structure in Formula 1 are disclosed. ##STR00001##
where R.sub.1 is either COCH.sub.3 or H; and R.sub.2 is between two to ten O-linked 3,5-dihydroxydecanoate; and R.sub.3 can be a polyol (e.g., L- or D-glycerol, L- or D-threitol, L- or D-erythritol, L- or D-arabitol, L- or D-xylitol, L- or D-lyxitol, L- or D-ribitol, L- or D-allitol, L- or D-altritol, L- or D-mannitol, L- or D-iditol, L- or D-gulitol, L- or D-glucitol (also called sorbitol), L- or D-galactitol (also called dulcitol), and L- or D-talitol), 2-amino-D-mannitol, 2N-acetylamino-D-mannitol, L-rhamnitol, or D-fucitol; except when R.sub.3 is D-mannitol, R.sub.2 is not 2 nor 3 O-linked 3,5-dihydroxydecanoate chains. These liamocins described above in addition to D-mannitol liamocin A1, D-mannitol liamocin A2, D-mannitol liamocin B1, and D-mannitol liamocin B2, alone or in combination with each other, can be used to kill certain bacteria and to treat certain bacterial infections.
