The endoscope includes an elongate body having a plurality of segments manipulatable relative to one another. The camera, light source, and structured light pattern source cooperate to determine the topography of a surface within a patient. A method of performing surgery is also provided.

MEDICAL STEREOSCOPIC OBSERVATION DEVICE, MEDICAL STEREOSCOPIC OBSERVATION METHOD, PROGRAM, AND MEDICAL STEREOSCOPIC OBSERVATION SYSTEM

There is provided a medical stereoscopic observation device, including: an acquisition section that acquires a first signal associated with a first imaging section and a second signal associated with a second imaging section via mutually different transmission channels; and a switching section that switches a signal to use for a certain control between the first signal and the second signal, in accordance with a state of the transmission channel for transmitting the first signal.

Augmented visualization for a surgical robot using a captured visible image combined with a fluorescence image and a captured visible image

An endoscope with an optical channel is held and positioned by a robotic surgical system. A capture unit captures (1) a visible first image at a first time and (2) a visible second image combined with a fluorescence image from the light at a second time. An image processing system receives (1) the visible first image and (2) the visible second image combined with the fluorescence image and generates at least one fluorescence image. A display system outputs an output image including an artificial fluorescence image.

SYNTHETIC REPRESENTATION OF A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
20170245948 · 2017-08-31 ·

A synthetic representation of a tool for display on a user interface of a robotic system. The synthetic representation may be used to show force on the tool, an actual position of the tool, or to show the location of the tool when out of a field of view. A three-dimensional pointer is also provided for a viewer in the surgeon console of a telesurgical system.

CAMERA DEVICE

A camera device includes a camera head that captures an observation image of a target site which is obtained by a surgical microscope, and a camera control unit that processes a signal of the observation video captured by the camera head. The camera head captures right and left observation images having a parallax from the surgical microscope to obtain a high-resolution observation video including right and left parallax videos for one screen, and the camera control unit cuts out the right parallax video and the left parallax video from the observation video including the right and left parallax videos to generate a high-resolution 3D video which is displayed on a monitor in 3D and with which stereoscopic observation can be performed.

EARDRUM INCISION DEVICE

An eardrum incision device includes a main body, a replaceable inserting portion and a display device. The replaceable inserting portion is detachably connected to the main body. The replaceable inserting portion has an insertion end located on a side far away from the main body and adapted to be inserted into an ear canal of a user. The replaceable inserting portion includes an image-capturing device, a mounting hole and a replaceable incision component. The image-capturing device is disposed at the insertion end. The mounting hole extends in a direction from the insertion end toward the main body. The replaceable incision component is removably disposed in the mounting hole and adapted to pierce out of the mounting hole in a direction toward the insertion end, so as to incise the eardrum of the user. The display device is disposed on the main body and electrically connected to the image-capturing device.

An endoscopic system includes a left optical system having a first focal position, a right optical system having a second focal position that is different from the first focal position. An image capturing device generates a first image and a second image respectively from images of a subject that are obtained by the left optical system and the right optical system. A display device displays the first image or the second image. A proper image determiner determines the magnitude relationship between the position of the subject in a predetermined area displayed on the display device and at least one threshold value Th is established between the first focal position and the second focal position. A video signal processor switches to the first image or the second image depending on a determined result from the proper image determiner and displays the image on the display device.

A video endoscope including an elongate shaft having a distal end and a proximal end; a tubular sleeve arranged in the shaft so as to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the shaft; a connector arranged at the proximal end of the shaft; an objective arranged at the distal end of the shaft; at least one image sensor arranged in the shaft so as to be proximal to the objective, the at least one image sensor being surrounded by the tubular sleeve; a flexible signal line connecting the at least one image sensor to the connector; and a fastener for detachable fastening the flexible signal line.

NON-TELECENTRIC MULTISPECTRAL STEREOSCOPIC ENDOSCOPE OBJECTIVE
20170235120 · 2017-08-17 ·

Non-telecentric in image space optical objective dimensioned to operate as part of intravascular endoscope probe and including first and second groups of lens elements (separated by an aperture stop) each of which has negative optical power. The first group of lens elements includes a first meniscus lens with a positive dioptric power and a first optical doublet. The second group of lens elements includes a sequence of second and third optical doublets and a second meniscus lens that follows the third optical doublet. At least one of the first and second groups of lens elements includes an aspheric refractive surface, thereby reducing distortion down to under 0.25% for field angles up to at least 40 degrees.

Insertable device and system for minimal access procedure

The present invention provides a system and single or multi-functional element device that can be inserted and temporarily placed or implanted into a structure having a lumen or hollow space, such as a subject's abdominal cavity to provide therewith access to the site of interest in connection with minimally invasive surgical procedures. The insertable device may be configured such that the functional elements have various degrees of freedom of movement with respect to orienting the functional elements or elements to provide access to the site from multiple and different orientations/perspectives as the procedure dictates, e.g., to provide multiple selectable views of the site, and may provide a stereoscopic view of the site of interest.
