Image rotation in an endoscopic laser mapping imaging system is described. A system includes an emitter for emitting pulses of electromagnetic radiation and an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation. The system includes a rotation sensor for detecting an angle of rotation of a lumen relative to a handpiece of an endoscope. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter is a laser mapping pattern.
LIGHTING DEVICE HAVING A WAVELENGTH CONVERSION ASSEMBLY
A lighting device is disclosed with excitation light source(s) for emitting excitation light along an excitation light path; a wavelength conversion assembly including wavelength conversion element(s) for converting the excitation light into conversion light and emitting it into the same half-space from which the excitation light is radiated onto the surface of the element, and reflection element(s) for reflecting, in unconverted fashion, the excitation light intermittently radiated onto the reflection element from the source(s) along the portion of the excitation light path onto a reflection light path as reflection light; and a dichroic mirror for deflecting the excitation light coming from the source(s) onto the portion of the excitation light path on which the excitation light is radiated onto the wavelength conversion element(s) or the reflection element(s). The mirror is configured such that the conversion light is transmitted through the mirror and the reflection light is guided past the mirror.
SCANNING ENDOSCOPE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
Provided is a scanning endoscope apparatus capable of generating an image having an optimum SNR. The scanning endoscope apparatus includes: a light source; an optical fiber that guides light emitted from the light source; an actuator that deflects light emitted from the optical fiber and repeatedly scans the deflected light on the irradiation object; a light detector with a controllable multiplication factor, the light detector photoelectrically converting signal light obtained from the irradiation object irradiated with the light; and a controller, the controller controlling the multiplication factor so as to optimize a SNR based on electric signals obtained for a certain period, the signals having been photoelectrically converted by the optical detection unit.
Fluorescence imaging with fixed pattern noise cancellation
Fluorescence imaging with reduced fixed pattern noise is disclosed. A method includes actuating an emitter to emit a plurality of pulses of electromagnetic radiation and sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation resulting from the plurality of pulses of electromagnetic radiation with a pixel array of an image sensor. The method includes reducing fixed pattern noise in an exposure frame by subtracting a reference frame from the exposure frame. The method is such that at least a portion of the plurality of pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength from about 795 nm to about 815 nm.

A color image sensor captures a reflected image of narrowband light having a wavelength range in which an extinction coefficient varies with a change in an oxygen saturation level of hemoglobin in blood. Thereby a first blue signal, a first green signal, and a first red signal are obtained. The color image sensor captures a reflected image of white light. Thereby a second blue signal, a second green signal, and a second red signal are obtained. Only an oxygen saturation level, out of two or more types of biological functional information including a blood volume and the oxygen saturation level, is obtained based on the first blue signal, the second green signal, and the second red signal. The oxygen saturation level is visualized to produce an oxygen saturation image.

First RGB image signals are inputted. A first B/G ratio and a first G/R ratio are calculated. The first B/G ratio and the first G/R ratio are converted into a second B/G ratio and a second G/R ratio, respectively, through a color information conversion process. Owing to the color information conversion process, a difference between first and second observation areas in a second signal ratio space formed by the second B/G ratio and the second G/R ratio is greater than a difference between the first and second observation areas in a first signal ratio space formed by the first B/G ratio and the first G/R ratio, and a difference between the first and third observation areas in the second signal ratio space is greater than a difference between the first and third observation areas in the first signal ratio space.

An optical endoluminal far-field microscopic imaging catheter comprises a light generating system, a first light delivery conduit for propagating light generated by the light generating system and a light distributor configured to redirect light propagated by the delivery conduit into a direction of an object to be imaged. A discriminator is configured for capturing light reflected from the object incident on a window of the discriminator from a particular direction and transmitting only the light captured from the particular direction to a second light delivery conduit. A drive mechanism is configured to sweep the window through a plurality of directions in a predictable pattern for matching each light capture event in the window with a direction of the window during the event. An analyzer matches the direction of the window with an associated light capture event and generate a visible image based on a mosaic of the captured light.
