Endotracheal Intubation Assistance System
A handheld system that is used with an endotracheal tube to facilitate endotracheal intubation is disclosed. The device includes a lighted bougie and an intubating channel, a handle, at least one sensor, a midline alignment light, a tongue grasper, a power source, and electronics. These components combine to form an integrated airway management system. During operation of the system, the light transilluminates the anterior neck tissue of the patient and glows brightly in the midline when the bougie is placed in the trachea.

An image capturing module is used in an endoscope. The image capturing module comprises an image capturing portion having opposed surfaces defined by respective photodetection and reverse surfaces. The reverse surface includes external electrodes disposed thereon. A layered optical portion having a front surface to which light is applied and a rear surface that is opposite of the front surface. The layered optical portion having a plurality of optical members layered together. A layered device having a first principal surface with joint electrodes disposed thereon. A second principal surface opposes the first principal surface. The first principal surface is bonded to the reverse surface. The joint electrodes are joined to the external electrodes. The layered device includes a plurality of semiconductor devices layered together in which the first principal surface is larger in area than the photodetection surface and smaller in area than the rear surface.

An endoscope system includes: a light source device; an electronic endoscope including an image sensor that images a biological tissue by a rolling shutter method; and a processor including an adjustment unit that is a part adjusting luminance of the frame image by combining adjustment of an exposure time of the image sensor with at least one of adjustment of light intensity of the illumination light and gain adjustment for determining a signal level of the frame image obtained from the image sensor, the adjustment unit determining whether or not a motion amount of an object image in the captured image or information regarding a blurring amount satisfies an adjustment condition and performing the adjustment processing by adjusting an adjustment level representing a degree of strength of the adjustment processing by a magnitude of a value according to at least the determination result.

An endoscope apparatus including: a light source configured to emit illumination light including light in a first wavelength band included in a blue wavelength band, light in a first narrowband included in a green wavelength band, and light in a second narrowband having a same light absorption coefficient of hemoglobin as that of the light in the first narrowband; an imager configured to acquire a first image of an object in the first wavelength band, a first narrowband image of the object in the first narrowband, and a second narrowband image of the object in the second narrowband; and a processor including hardware. The processor is configured to implement acquiring scattering characteristics information based on a comparison result between the first narrowband image and the second narrowband image, and generating an observation image using the first image, the first narrowband image, and the scattering characteristics information.

A medical system (1) includes: an irradiation means (2) that irradiates a subject with coherent light; an imaging means (3) that captures an image of reflected light of the coherent light from the subject; an acquiring means (411) that acquires a speckle image from the imaging means (3); a calculating means (412) that performs, for each pixel of the speckle image, on the basis of luminance values of that pixel and surrounding pixels, statistical processing and calculation of a predetermined index value; a determining means (413) that determines, for the each pixel, whether or not a mean of the luminance values used in the calculation of the index value is in a predetermined range; a generating means (414) that generates a predetermined image on the basis of the index values; and a display control means (415) that identifiably displays, in displaying the predetermined image on a display means, a portion of pixels each having a mean of the luminance values, the mean being outside the predetermined range.
DRIVING LIGHT EMISSIONS ACCORDING TO A JITTER SPECIFICATION IN A LASER MAPPING IMAGING SYSTEM
Driving an emitter to emit pulses of electromagnetic radiation according to a jitter specification in a laser mapping imaging system is described. A system includes an emitter for emitting pulses of electromagnetic radiation and an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation. The system includes a driver for driving emissions by the emitter according to a jitter specification. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises a laser mapping pattern.

The invention concerns a handle for a video endoscope for medical or industrial applications, comprising a housing and an interface portion, where the interface portion includes a first connector element at its distal end connected to an electric transmission element that is connectable to a connector element of an associated elongate shaft to form a detachable electrical and/or mechanical connection between the handle and the associated shaft. The includes an electrical connection assembly arranged at an exterior of the interface portion forming an electrical connection between the electric transmission element and a stationary electric and/or electronic component of the handle. The handle also includes at least a first bearing for rotatably supporting the interface portion in and/or at the housing, such that when the shaft and handle are connected the shaft is rotatable via the rotatably supported interface portion relative to the housing of the handle.

Embodiments of a sizing device that can be used to measure the size of airways lumens, such as those connected to lungs. The sizing device can have different expandable elements in order to accurately and consistently measure the particular dimensions of a lumen. In some embodiments, markings viewable by a user can be used to determine the particular size.
