Light cable cap and method of using the same
A medical device reduces the risk of operating room fires caused by light sources by shielding the illuminated light cable from directly interacting with surgical drapes or patient skin. The device includes a silicone housing that mates circumferentially over existing endoscopic light cables and a thermal insulator can be positioned over the light emitting tip of the cable.
Medical image pickup apparatus
A camera head includes an airtight case which includes an image pickup unit having an image pickup device and the like as a heat source in an inner portion and includes a partition wall to secure air-tightness with respect to an outside of the airtight case, a heat transfer sheet which connects the heat source and an inner surface of the partition wall to transfer heat generated at the heat source to the partition wall, a heat sink arranged on an outer side of the partition wall of the airtight case, and a spring member which is interposed between an outer surface corresponding to the inner surface of the partition wall of the airtight case connected to the heat transfer sheet and the heat sink to transfer heat from the outer surface of the partition wall to the heat sink.
ILLUMINATION APPARATUS, ENDOSCOPE AND ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM
An illumination apparatus includes a light converter disposed on a distal end surface of a light guide, the light converter being configured to emit illumination light, which is generated by converting optical characteristics of primary light that is guided by the light guide, in a forward direction which is on the light converter side of the distal end surface, and in a backward direction which is on the light guide side of the distal end surface. The illumination apparatus further includes a light collector configured to collect backward illumination light into the light guide such that the backward illumination light is guided backward by the light guide, and a heat exhauster configured to convert the backward illumination light, which is guided by the light guide, to heat, and to exhaust the heat.
Heater for surgical viewing instruments
A system and associated method is used for warming an endoscope, laparoscope, or other such instrument to minimize fogging. A flexible pad has a length, a width and a periphery for wrapping around the instrument and a plurality of separate chambers defined through partitions. Each of the separate chambers includes an activation disc and a mixture of water and sodium acetate to generate heat through an exothermic reaction initiated through manual manipulation of the disc for that chamber. The pad is preferably made from two plastic sheets of substantially equal size, with the chambers being formed by heat-sealing or otherwise bonding the periphery of the sheets and the partitions. At least some of the partitions establish lengthwise and/or widthwise fold lines in the pad. At least one of the partitions may include a gap to facilitate fluid transfer of the mixture. The disc is preferably made of perforated stainless steel. A housing may be provided to contain the pad in sleeve form, and an optional heat-conductive tube may be used to receive the instrument around which the pad is wrapped.
Image capture device with reduced fogging
An image capturing device comprises an elongated body, an imaging window coupled to a distal end of the elongated body, and a heat source within the elongated body. The heat source is configured to apply heat to the imaging window to remove condensation from or prevent condensation from forming on the imaging window.
Digital dental tray
A digital dental tray system is described including a dental tray shaped to at least partially surround a plurality of teeth and a plurality of three-dimensional (3D) optical imaging elements attached to the dental tray. Each of the 3D optical imaging elements comprises a structured light projector to project a light pattern onto one or more teeth of the plurality of teeth and a camera to capture an image of the one or more teeth.
SURGICAL SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COMPONENT COOLING WHILE WARMING FLUID TO BE INTRODUCED DURING A SURGICAL PROCEDURE
A surgical system includes a fluid-delivery device configured to deliver fluid to a surgical site, a surgical instrument including a heat-generating component, and a fluid inflow path defined from a fluid source to the fluid-delivery device to provide fluid to the fluid-delivery device for delivery to the surgical site. At least a portion of the fluid inflow path is thermally coupled to the heat-generating component to simultaneously draw heat from the heat-generating component and warm fluid flowing through the fluid inflow path. A method of surgery includes using a surgical instrument having a heat-generating component that generates heat during use, and introducing fluid along a fluid inflow path from a fluid source to a surgical site. At least a portion of the fluid inflow path is thermally coupled to the heat-generating component to simultaneously draw heat from the heat-generating component and warm the fluid introduced along the fluid inflow path.
DIGITAL DENTAL TRAY FOR 3D MODEL GENERATION
A system comprises a dental tray comprising an array of cameras, wherein each camera of the first array of cameras has a fixed position and orientation relative to one or more other camera of the array of cameras. The system further comprises a processing device to receive a plurality of images generated by the array of cameras, stitch the plurality of images together based on calibration data specifying predetermined image stitching parameters for combining the plurality of images, wherein the predetermined image stitching parameters are based on predetermined fixed relative positions and orientations of cameras from the array of cameras, and generate a three-dimensional model of a plurality of teeth based on the stitched plurality of images.
