Disclosed is a catalyst system, its methods of preparation and its use for producing, among others, alkenes and/or saturated or unsaturated oxygenates and, which include at least one of an aldehyde and an acid (such as propyl aldehyde, acrolein, acrylic acid, isobutyl aldehyde, methacrolein, methacrylic acid), comprising subjecting the corresponding an alcohol or a diol selected from the group consisting of propanol, propanediol and isobutanol that is derivable from biomass, to a vapor phase process over the catalytic system described herein in the presence of a gas mixture of oxygen, air or nitrogen and/or other suitable diluting gas. In the case where one of 1-propanol, or 1,2-propanediol or 1,3-propanediol or a mixture thereof is subjected to a vapor phase catalytic process over the said catalytic system in the presence of air or oxygen, and a co-fed gas, such as nitrogen or other diluting gas, the product is at least one of propylene, propyl aldehyde, acrolein and acrylic acid. In the case where isobutanol is subjected to such a process, the product is at least one of isobutylene, isobutyl aldehyde, methacrolein and methacrylic acid. The catalyst system comprises a single catalytic zone or multi-catalytic zones, in each of which the composition of the co-feed and other reaction parameter can be independently controlled.

Systems and processes integrating fluidized catalytic cracking with metathesis for producing olefins

Processes for producing olefins include introducing a hydrocarbon feed to a high-severity fluidized catalytic cracking system, contacting the hydrocarbon feed with a cracking catalyst under high-severity conditions in the high-severity fluidized catalytic cracking system to produce a cracking reaction effluent comprising butene, and passing at least a portion of the cracking reaction effluent, which includes at least butene, to a metathesis system. The processes further include contacting the portion of the cracking reaction effluent with a metathesis catalyst in the metathesis system, which causes at least a portion of the butene in the cracking C4 effluent to undergo a metathesis reaction to produce a metathesis reaction effluent comprising at least one of ethylene, propene, or both. The processes may further include separating a metathesis C5+ effluent from the metathesis reaction effluent and passing the metathesis C5+ effluent back to the high-severity fluidized catalytic cracking unit.

Synthesis of n-heptane from olefins and related production systems

Processes for producing n-heptane from a mixture of 1-hexene and 1-octene in the presence of a suitable isomerization-metathesis catalyst followed by a hydrogenation step are disclosed. Integrated manufacturing systems for producing n-heptane with minimal waste also are disclosed.

Methods for low temperature production of 1-butene

Methods of producing 1-butene from a 2-butene-containing feedstock include feeding a hydrocarbon feed comprising 2-butene to a reactor, the reactor containing an isomerization catalyst and contacting the hydrocarbon feed with the isomerization catalyst in the reactor at a temperature from 150° C. to 350° C. to produce an isomerization reaction effluent comprising 1-butene. Further, the isomerization catalyst comprises a MCM-48 catalyst with WO.sub.3 incorporated into a silica framework of the MCM-48 catalyst.

Dual functional composite catalyst for olefin metathesis and cracking

Composite catalysts includes zeolite particles at least partially embedded in a catalyst support material and at least one catalytically active compound deposited on the outer surfaces and pore surfaces of the catalyst support material, zeolite particles, or both. A method of making the composite catalysts may include preparing a catalyst precursor mixture that includes the zeolite, catalyst support material, triblock copolymer surfactant, and the catalytically active compound precursor and spray drying the catalyst precursor mixture. The composite catalysts may be used as a single catalyst for conducting olefin metathesis and cracking reactions. A method for producing propene may include contacting a butene-containing feed with the composite catalysts.

METHOD OF PRODUCING OLEFIN USING CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED PROCESS

Disclosed is a method of producing an olefin using a circulating fluidized bed process, including: (a) supplying a hydrocarbon mixture including propane and a dehydrogenation catalyst to a riser which is in a state of a fast fluidization regime, and thus inducing a dehydrogenation reaction; (b) separating an effluent from the dehydrogenation reaction into the catalyst and a propylene mixture; (c) stripping, in which a residual hydrocarbon compound is removed from the catalyst separated in step (b); (d) mixing the catalyst stripped in step (c) with a gas containing oxygen and thus continuously regenerating the catalyst; (e) circulating the catalyst regenerated in step (d) to step (a) and thus resupplying the catalyst to the riser; and (f) cooling, compressing, and separating the propylene mixture, which is a reaction product separated in step (b), and thus producing a propylene product.

CATALYST COMPOSITION FOR THE PRODUCTION C2 HYDROCARBONS FROM METHANE

A catalyst composition, suitable for producing ethylene and other C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons, from methane. The composition comprises a blended product of two distinct catalyst components, blended at such synergistic proportions that results in a catalyst having high ethylene selectivity while maintaining low ethyne selectivity and sufficient catalytic activity rate. The invention further provides a method for preparing such a catalyst composition and a process for producing ethylene and other C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons, using such a catalyst composition.

OCM catalyst composition having improved C2+ hydrocarbon selectivity

The invention relates to a composition containing a catalyst suitable for producing ethylene and other C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons at high selectivity while improving both methane conversion and product yield. Particularly, the catalyst contains mixed metal oxides having at least one alkali earth metal and at least one rare earth metal along with an alkali metal promoter in the form of an alkali metal or in the form of an alkali metal tungstate. The invention further provides a method for preparing such a composition, using a calcination process to calcine the alkali metal promoters together with mixed metal oxides. Additionally, the invention further describes a process for producing C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons, using such a composition.
