Embodiments of a simulated valve device can be used to determine whether a valve device would fit within a particular airway. The simulated valve device can include a shaft having at least one strut extending radially therefrom. The strut and at least part of the shaft can be surrounded by a membrane for viewing through a bronchoscope. In some embodiments, the membrane can include markings for viewing by a user.

Bronchoscope Tip Marker For Orientation Of Radial Endobronchial Ultrasound Probe
20230073109 · 2023-03-09 ·

A radial endobronchial ultrasound system providing localization of visualized lung lesions or nodules in the airways of a patient is provided herein. The system has three, main components: a guide sheath with a distal end, a flexible bronchoscope with a tip, and a radial endobronchial ultrasound probe. The guide sheath directs insertion of the bronchoscope into the patient, with the tip of the bronchoscope extending beyond the distal end of the guide sheath. The bronchoscope has an echogenic discrete marker formed inside and proximate its tip and a working channel configured to include and direct the probe. The probe is configured for insertion into the airways of the patient where the probe rotates to capture a 360-degree circumferential image perpendicular to the probe itself. The echogenic discrete marker on the bronchoscope provides a reference point for localization of the lung lesions or nodules visualized by the image.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HYBRID IMAGING AND NAVIGATION
20230072879 · 2023-03-09 ·

A method is provided for navigating an endoscopic device through an anatomical luminal network of a patient. The method comprises: (a) commanding a distal tip of an articulating elongate member to move along a pre-determined path; (b) concurrent with (a), collecting positional sensor data and kinematics data; and (c) computing an estimated roll angle based on the positional sensor data and the kinematics data.

Embodiments include devices, methods, and systems for positioning devices. An exemplary method comprises: moving a distal end of a tube into a body, the tube including a lumen and a shaft in the lumen, the shaft having a transducer; sending a first signal to the transducer; passing, with the transducer, in response to the first signal, a wave energy into the body; receiving, with the transducer, a reflected portion of the wave energy; generating, with the transducer, a second signal in response to the reflected portion of the wave energy; determining, with a processor, an indicia of the body in response to the second signal; and identifying, with the indicia, a targeted issue in the body; positioning the distal end of the tube at the targeted tissue in response to the indicia; and removing a portion of the targeted tissue with the distal end of the tube.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF REGISTRATION FOR IMAGE-GUIDED PROCEDURES
20230061771 · 2023-03-02 ·

Systems and methods for supporting image-guided procedures include an elongate device including a steerable distal end and a shape sensor located along a length of the elongate device and one or more processors coupled to the elongate device. While the elongate device is being traversed through one or more passageways of a patient, the one or more processors are configured to detect a data collection event, and capture, in response to detecting the data collection event, a plurality of points along the length of the elongate device using the shape sensor. In some embodiments, an insertion depth of the elongate device is monitored. In some embodiments, the data collection event is detected when the insertion depth is beyond a threshold insertion depth, no change of the insertion depth is detected for longer than a threshold period of time, or the insertion depth is beyond a threshold retraction distance.

Systems and methods for monitoring patient motion during a medical procedure

A method of monitoring a medical instrument during a medical procedure includes: receiving state information from a control system in communication with the medical instrument; detecting, by the control system, motion of at least a portion of the medical instrument; comparing the detected motion of the at least the portion of the medical instrument with a threshold motion value based on the state information received from the control system; determining, based on the detected motion exceeding the threshold motion value, significant movement of a patient has occurred; providing a system response based on determining significant movement of the patient has occurred; comparing the detected motion with a threshold control value, wherein the threshold control value is higher than the threshold motion value; and disregarding, when the detected motion is higher than the threshold control value, motion commands received from a master assembly.
