Cam-actuated split blade housing for power operated rotary knife
A blade housing assembly for a power operated rotary knife including a split blade housing and a cam mechanism for changing a blade housing diameter between blade supporting and blade changing positions. The split blade housing includes an annular blade support section, a mounting section and a split extending through the mounting section and an inner wall of the blade support section and defining a split distance between first and second circumferential ends of the inner wall. The split includes a radial split section and an angled split section adjacent the inner wall. The mounting section includes first and second body portions on opposite sides of the split. The cam mechanism includes a cam plate bridging the first and second body portions and a cam member rotatably supported by the cam plate. The cam member is rotatable between closed and open positions to change the blade housing diameter.
Loin puller scribe saw assembly
A scribe saw assembly is provided for a loin puller and has substantially reduced wear and increased life of the assembly components. A pinion assembly includes a double keyway and opposing cutouts on the pinion shaft, with dual needle bearings. A bevel gear assembly includes pins for holding the scribe saw blade and dual bearings on the bevel gear shaft to eliminate shaft flex and blade wear. The standard is mounted to the motor housing with load bearing pins to prevent loosening of the mounting bolts. An adjustable ski is provided on the standard to control the cutting depth of the scribe saw blade.
Flex shaft—tool connection for power operated rotary knife
A flexible shaft drive transmission coupled between a drive motor and a gear train of a power operated tool. The flexible shaft drive transmission includes: an outer casing having a bushing positioned at a tool end of the casing, the bushing defining a longitudinal central opening; lubricant disposed within the outer casing; and an elongated drive transmitting shaft assembly rotatable within the outer casing including a flexible drive transmitting and a coupler fitting affixed to the tool end of the drive transmitting shaft, the coupler fitting including a cylindrical body and an enlarged head extending distally from the cylindrical body, the cylindrical body fitting within the longitudinal central opening of the bushing and the enlarged head having a diameter greater than a diameter of the longitudinal central opening of the bushing. The enlarged head defining a square drive aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the drive transmitting shaft assembly.
Hunting Knife with Skinning Appliance
A tool, and a method using the tool, for skinning game animals. Specifically, the tool relates to a curved blade knife, sharpened on the curved, top edge, and possessing a spherical structure at the tip. The tool is used by forming a cut through the soft skin of a game animal, inserting the spherical structure through the cut, and pushing or pulling the blade such that the sharpened curved, top edge cuts through the skin and connective tissue. This tool and method takes advantage of the fact that because the spherical structure at the tip of the blade is retained inside the skin and connective tissue of the game animal, the blade is automatically properly positioned to cut the skin of the game animal.
WINDPIPE REMOVAL DEVICE AND METHOD
A device for removing the windpipe of a harvested big game animal such as the windpipe of a deer. The device includes: (a) a line having a first end and a second end; and (b) a tapered member having an apex and a base. In use, the neck of a field dressed big game animal is cut open to reveal the windpipe of the animal. The first end of the line of the device is then passed into and through the windpipe so that the first end of the line is positioned in the body cavity of the animal. Then the first end of the line is pulled so that the tapered member engages the windpipe to remove the windpipe from the neck of the animal.
Chicken Skinner
A chicken skinning handheld kitchen tool of a unitary structure is provided. In some embodiments, the present invention may provide for conically shaped kitchen tool with a ridged base member and a top member having teeth or tine extending therefrom and curving downward at a variable angle of 45 to 90 degrees. The present invention may be made from a thermoplastic polymer that is sufficiently rigid to withstand forces that would normally be applied without breaking and sufficiently flexible so that it will flex during operation.
Skinning knife with removable blade
A skinning knife includes a handle and a blade carrier coupled to the handle, the blade carrier including a mount having a mounting surface, a boss extending outward from the mounting surface, and a spring including a front portion, a middle portion, and a rear portion. The skinning knife also includes a blade including a sharpened edge, a body, and a slot formed through the body, where the slot extends in a longitudinal direction from a front end to a rear end and includes a narrow portion of a first width and a wide portion of a second width greater than the first width. The blade is releaseably secured to the blade carrier by interaction between the boss and the spring of the blade carrier and the slot of the blade.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTAMINATION INTERVENTION
Intervention of contamination of an exposed carcass meat surface during processing of an animal carcass comprises providing a flexible sheet having first and second major surfaces comprising an antimicrobial agent on the first major surface of the flexible sheet, wherein the flexible sheet is food-contact safe; detaching a portion of hide from the carcass, thereby providing an exposed carcass meat surface; and placing the flexible sheet on the exposed carcass meat surface so that the antimicrobial agent contacts the exposed carcass meat surface. The flexible sheet is also described.
POWER OPERATED TRIMMING TOOL
A power operated trimming tool including a head assembly affixed to a handle assembly. The head assembly includes a frame body supporting a feed roll, a blade, a blade support and a blade retainer plate. The frame body includes an interface portion affixed to the handle assembly and a support portion extending from the interface portion. The blade support includes a cross member of the frame body and defines a blade support slot and a blade receiving opening at a rearward end of the slot. The blade retainer plate is pivotally coupled to the frame body and pivots between first and second positions, in the first position, the blade retainer plate positioned in proximity to the blade receiving opening of the blade support and, in the second position, the blade retainer plate being spaced from the blade receiving opening allowing access to a back side of the blade.
ANNULAR KNIFE WITH A SENSOR FOR MEASURING THE CUTTING DEPTH OF A ROTATING KNIFE BLADE
The disclosure relates to an annular knife with a sensor for determining the cutting depth and a method for determining the cutting depth. When trimming meat such as at abattoirs a customer may require a fat layer of a given thickness, however the natural fat layer of animals vat between different carcasses and within the individual carcass/meat piece. By determining the fat layer thickness and variation hereof of a meat piece before trimming the meat piece an operator may be presented with such information and be able to remove tit in different areas to obtain the required thickness. The trimming may be performed with a system calculating in real unit how much fat is to be removed when some fat has already been removed by an operator.
