Terminal alkenyl functional silylated polysaccharides
A composition contains a silylated polysaccharide, where the silylated polysaccharide is characterized by: (a) having linked fructose, galactose, anhydrogalactose, or glucose saccharide units provided that glycosidic linkages of glucose are alpha linkages and that the silylated polysaccharide is other than a silylated starch; and (b) on average 1 to 100 mole-percent of the hydroxyl groups on the polysaccharide have been silylated with a silyl group having the structure SiR.sub.3 linked to the polysaccharide through a COSi bond where each R is independently selected from hydrocarbyl radicals having from one to 12 carbon atoms, provided that on average at least one R per polysaccharide has a terminally unsaturated carbon-carbon double bond.
INULIN PRODUCT
A polydisperse inulin product has a factor L, defined as a ratio S/D, wherein:
S equals the sum of the compounds GF.sub.2, F.sub.3, and F.sub.4 in the inulin product, expressed in wt. % on total carbohydrates;
D equals [(F.sub.i/G.sub.i)+1], wherein F.sub.i is the amount of inulin-related fructose in the inulin product, G.sub.i is the amount of inulin-related glucose in the inulin product, whereby F.sub.i and G.sub.i are expressed in wt. % on total carbohydrates,
wherein the value of L lies between 2.0 and 3.0 and wherein between 3 and 20 wt. % on total carbohydrates of the inulin product is:
GF.sub.n compounds wherein n is 10 or greater, and/or
F.sub.m compounds wherein m is 11 or greater.
WAX MODIFIER IN HYDROCARBON FLUID AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
Compositions may include a wax modifier that is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide having a number of sugar subunits in the range of 2 to 60 and one or more fatty acid reagents, and a reservoir fluid produced from a subterranean formation comprising one or more components capable of producing waxes. Methods may include contacting a hydrocarbon fluid with a wax modifier, wherein the wax modifier is the product of the reaction of a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents. Methods may also include introducing a wax modifier into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein the wax modifier is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents; producing hydrocarbons from the subterranean formation; and allowing the wax modifier to inhibit the precipitation of a wax.
METHOD FOR THE CULTIVATION OF PLURIENNIAL PLANTS BELONGING TO THE CARDUEAE TRIBE AND FOR THE INTEGRATED RECOVERY OF INULIN, SEEDS AND BIOMASS FROM THE SAID PLANTS
This invention relates to a method for cultivating pluriennial plants belonging to the Cardueae tribe and for the integrated recovery of inulin, seeds and biomass from the said plants.
PROCESS FOR OBTAINING INULIN FROM ROOTS OF THE CARDOON PLANT
This invention relates to a new process for obtaining inulin from roots of cardoon plants, that is those belonging to the Cardueae tribe.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR PROCESSING DIETARY FIBERS
The present invention relates to a method for processing a composition comprising fructan and sucrose, comprising the step of incubating a composition comprising fructan and sucrose, preferably inulin and sucrose, with at least one yeast selected from the group consisting of Saccharomyces, and Kluyveromyces. Incubation with these yeasts results in the breakdown of free sugars such that purified fructan compositions are obtained.
Bleached dextrin and methods of forming the same
Bleached dextrin compositions, methods of forming the same, and products formed therefrom. The composition comprises a dextrin-based composition or slurry, a caustic agent, and an oxidant. The caustic agent may include sodium hydroxide. The oxidant may include hydrogen peroxide.
Compounds and their effects on appetite control and insulin sensitivity
The invention provides a propionate inulin ester for the reduction of appetite, food intake and/or calorie intake and/or to improve insulin sensitivity in a subject, and for the treatment or prevention of obesity or diabetes. The invention also provides compositions comprising a propionate inulin ester, methods using propionate inulin esters, functional food containing propionate inulin ester and methods of making propionate inulin esters.
CARBOXYLATE ESTER OF POLYSACCHARIDE
The invention relates to a carboxylate ester of polysaccharide characterised in that it possesses ester bonds with trimellitic anhydride and is soluble in water. The polysaccharide is esterified with trimellitic anhydride and the degree of substitution of the polysaccharide lies in the range of from 0.5 to 3. The invention further relates to methods for the manufacture of these polysaccharides esters in organic solvents, in water or in an extruder or a kneader and to their use in fabric and home care formulations.
Dandelion processes, compositions and products
Dandelion processes, compositions and products are provided. One process is a method of preparing dandelion that utilizes a species of a Taraxacum genus, the process including the steps of extracting and recovering a rubber and a carbohydrate from a dandelion root substantially simultaneously. The process employs a dandelion species that is selected from the group consisting of: Taraxacum officianale, Taraxacum kok-saghyz, a rubber-bearing species of the genus Taraxacum, and a combination of two or more thereof.
