The polymerizable compound has a hydrazone moiety. The present invention also provides a polymerizable composition in which discoloration and reduction of aligning property do not easily occur. Furthermore, the present invention provides a polymer obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable composition containing a compound obtained by the production method and an optically anisotropic body using the polymer. The present invention provides a method for producing a polymerizable compound including a step of reacting a compound represented by General Formula (I-B-a) with a compound represented by General Formula (I-B-b) to obtain a compound represented by General Formula (I-C), and provides a composition which contains a compound obtained by this production method.

FLAME-RETARDANT POLY(BUTYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) RESIN COMPOSITION
The present invention addresses the problem of suppressing corrosion of a molding machine or mold when molding a polybutylene terephthalate resin composition that uses a halogenated benzyl acrylate-based flame retardant as a flame retardant and suppressing corrosion of a metal terminal in an insert-molded article that uses the polybutylene terephthalate resin composition. The problem is solved by a polybutylene terephthalate resin composition that uses a halogenated benzyl acrylate-based flame retardant as a flame retardant, wherein the amount of halogenated aromatic compounds such as chlorobenzene in the manufacturing process for the flame retardant is suppressed.

The compound is represented by general formula (i). In the compound, in a group K.sup.i1, at least two secondary carbon atoms in an alkyl group (a linear alkyl, halogenated alkyl, or cyanogenated alkyl group having 3 to 40 carbon atoms) are replaced with C(X.sup.i1) and/or CH(CN), where X.sup.i1 is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, NH, or NR.sup.13; in addition, a group A.sup.i2, a group A.sup.i3, or the group K.sup.i1 includes, as a substituent, at least one P.sup.i1-Sp.sup.i1- group, where P.sup.i1 is a polymerizable group, and SP.sup.i1 is a spacer group or a single bond. The liquid crystal composition including the compound represented by general formula (i) can be adsorbed onto substrates between which a liquid crystal layer is held, and, consequently, without the use of an alignment film, liquid crystal molecules can be maintained in a state in which the liquid crystal molecules are aligned in a vertical direction.

COPOLYMERS OF HALOGENATED OLEFINS AND HALOGENATED CO-MONOMERS
Copolymers of one or more halogenated olefins and one or more halogenated co-monomers selected from the group consisting of halogenated alkenyl ethers, halogenated alkenyl esters, and halogenated (meth)acrylates are useful in various end-use applications wherein the presence of halogen (e.g., fluorine) in the copolymer imparts one or more desirable properties, as compared to analogous copolymers not containing halogen.

A multilayer film includes a substrate layer; a surface protective layer integrally laminated on a first surface of the substrate layer, the surface protective layer containing a polyurethane which is a reaction product of a polyol (P) having a hydroxyl value of 25 to 380 mgKOH/g and a content of fluorine atoms of 0.01 to 20% by mass and a polyisocyanate (I); and an adhesive layer integrally laminated on a second surface of the substrate layer. Also described is a two-liquid curable coating agent for forming the surface protective layer.

An actinic ray-sensitive or radiation-sensitive resin composition is an actinic ray-sensitive or radiation-sensitive resin composition including a compound that generates an acid upon irradiation with actinic rays or radiation and a resin capable of increasing polarity by the action of an acid, in which the resin includes a repeating unit represented by General Formula (B-1) and at least one halogen atom selected from the group consisting of a fluorine atom and an iodine atom.

A curable composition comprises, in specific ratios, surface-modified metal oxide particles (A) having (meth)acryloyl-group-containing surface-modifying groups on the surface of the metal oxide particles, a compound (B) having a fluorine atom and at least one (meth)acryloyl group, a compound (C) having a urethane bond or OCH.sub.2CH(OH)CH.sub.2, having at least two (meth)acryloyl groups and having a mass-average molecular weight of at least 1,000, a compound (D) having no unsaturated bond-containing ring structure and having at least one (meth)acryloyl group, and a polymerization initiator (E).
