The present invention relates to a process of a process for preparation of a polymer dispersion comprising a step (E) of free radical polymerization in an aqueous medium (M) in the presence of: at least a pre-polymer (pO) soluble in the medium (M), at least one free-radical polymerization initiator, and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer (m) which is chosen from an alkyl (meth)acrylate of at least C6, wherein the aqueous medium (M) includes water and at least one water miscible solvent.
METHOD OF PRODUCING ACRYLOYL MONOMERS AND ACRYLOYL-BASED POLYMERS
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a method of making a reaction inhibiting polymer having a formula of M—CO—NR. The method may comprise reacting PAA with an organic coupling reagent and at least one alicyclic amine to produce the reaction inhibiting polymer. In accordance with another embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of making an acryloyl monomer having a formula of R.sub.a—CO—NR may comprise reacting an acrylic acid with an organic coupling reagent and an alicyclic amine to form the acryloyl monomer. R.sub.a may be an alkylene moiety, M may be a poly(acrylic) acid backbone. NR may be an alicyclic amine moiety coupled to the polymer backbone or coupled to the alkylene moiety.
POLYMERIC PARTICLES
This invention also relates to monodisperse coated hydrogel polymer particles comprising a polymer formed from (a) a hydrophilic vinylic monomer having a log P.sub.oct/wat (log P) of less than about 0.6; and (b) a crosslinker comprising at least two vinyl groups; and a coating. Also provided are methods of forming the monodisperse coated hydrogel polymer particles.
IODO-FUNCTIONALIZED POLYMERS AS MASS SPECTROMETRY CALIBRANTS WITH A MASS-DEFECT OFFSET
The present invention discloses novel calibrants containing between 1 and 5 iodine atoms and methods of making them using linear polymers, hyperbranched polymers, and biological polymers (including but not limited to proteins and peptides.) Methods of using the calibrants are also disclosed, such as mass spectrometry. The novel calibrants disclosed herein have a more cost- and time-efficient synthesis than other calibrants.
