The present invention relates to a hydrocarbon resin production method comprising thermal polymerization under non-catalytic conditions, thereby enabling a narrow molecular weight distribution and the realization of uniform physical properties. Specifically, the present invention relates to a hydrocarbon resin production method and a hydrocarbon resin produced thereby, the method comprising thermal polymerization without a catalyst and an initiator, thereby enabling, by a low polydispersity index, a narrow molecular weight distribution, and thus a hydrocarbon resin having uniform physical properties.

Thermoplastic vulcanizates and compositions therefrom

Disclosed is the preparation of thermoplastic vulcanizates with reduced crosslinked rubber dispersion sizes and dispersity. The thermoplastic vulcanizates include a polypropylene matrix phase in which cross-linked rubber particles are dispersed. The thermoplastic vulcanizates include the reaction product of a mixture that includes at least 10 wt % of isotactic polypropylene at least 30 wt % of an amorphous propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer containing at least 60 wt % propylene-derived units and less than or equal to 25 wt % of ethylene-derived units; at least 10 wt % of a diluent and at least 0.015 wt % of at least one curative. The mixture is preferably formed without adding an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer.

COPOLYMER OF ETHYLENE AND A 1,3-DIENE

A copolymer of ethylene and of a 1,3-diene of formula CH.sub.2CRCHCH.sub.2 is provided. The ethylene units represent between 50 mol % and 95 mol % of the ethylene units and of the units of the 1,3-diene, and the units of the 1,3-diene of 1,2 and 3,4 configuration represent more than 50 mol % of the units of the 1,3-diene. The symbol R represents a hydrocarbon chain having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms. Such a copolymer exhibits an improved compromise between the degree of crystallinity and the stiffness and makes it possible to widen the field of application of ethylene-rich diene copolymers in rubber compositions.
